For several days in June of 2020, the Joplin area ranked in the top 25 for new COVID-19 case growth rate, according to a project based at our meth university. On June 1st and last year, the city ranked 218, a week later, Joplin was 50th. On June 15th, 2020, the area ranked first in the country with a 10.4 COVID-19 case growth rate per week. It would hold that number one spot for nine straight days. On Wednesday of this week, at the Joplin Health Department, located at 321 East Forest Street, the staff will be providing first and second doses of COVID-19 Moderna vaccine from 9 a.m. until 11.30 a.m. and 1.30 p.m. until four. The Health Department staff will also be at the Joplin Public Library this Saturday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. providing COVID shots. Anyone over the age of 12, regardless of your city or city residency, can receive the shots. Please bring a photo ID and your vaccination card if you're seeking to receive the second Moderna shot. No appointment is required. Over KRPS, I'm Fred Fletcher-Fierro in Web City.
