Today's county of Wisconsin is bordered by Kiwane County on the east Manitowoc and Calumet counties on the south out of Ghanian Shano counties on the West. And by O'Connell County on the north. The county seat is located near coordinates 44 degrees 30 minutes north latitude and 88 degrees 0 minutes west longitude. The county is brown. Which has a long and rich history. John Nicolay probably the first white man to visit Wisconsin's stopped at Green Bay in 16 30 for. The first white settlement in Wisconsin was Live 8 in the Green
Bay Area. And a strategic location on the Green Bay Fox River waterway made this a main routes for voyagers and traders. The area was important in conflicts between France and England and later England and the United States. In turn the Green Bay Area had fortifications manned by French English and finally American soldiers. On today's program County residents and University of Wisconsin Extension staff discuss varied aspects of their county and extension activities in the area. First comments on convention promotion by office chairman Ernest E. Barr. John Van Meter is a staff member of the Green Bay Area visitor Convention Bureau. This is an organization that is now involved in promoting Green Bay in northeastern Wisconsin. There's a lot of interest in the type of activities that they're working with because first of all it is a smokeless type of industry and it also provides employment and provides job opportunities and eating
facilities housing and related recreation type programs in addition to that this organization has been very active in education programs for people in the leisure industry. I think we realize that we've recognized other businesses for many years but in some cases we have not been aware of the opportunities
