Episode Description
Here and Now, Primary Elections, In Wisconsin's' Art Hackett has the story from Super Tuesday's primaries to Wisconsin's own to explain how the primary elections work. Super Delegates, Our next guest is a Wisconsin super delegate and not only that, an undecided one. He's taken phone calls from some pretty persuasive people in the last week or so. Jason Rae joins us now from Marquette University where he is a student and active in student government. Presidential Predictions, One of the country's leading political experts happens to work right here in Wisconsin. He's helped frame the primary for us over the month and he'll be back tonight to anticipate the final days leading up to Wisconsin's February 19th primary. US Economy, The economy has emerged as the biggest issue in the presidential primary race. Washington is trying to give it a boost with a just-passed economic stimulus package. The housing market is so far the hardest hit. That's true across the country as well as here in Wisconsin. Economic Stimulus Package, President George Bush is expected to sign the economic stimulus package that just passed the House and Senate. A package that would give up to $1, 200 plus $300 per child to taxpayers earning less than $150, 000. The plan also gives checks to social security beneficiaries and disabled veterans. What of the plan? Is it the right medicine? Bill Duddleston explains the economics. Cap Times Online, This week staffers at Madison's evening newspaper, the Capitol Times announced plans for a huge makeover. The paper has been rolling off the presses for 90 years but now readers will find their daily content on the web. (W/ SOT of newspaper printing),
Episode Description
Here and Now, Presidential Primaries, Frederica discusses the number of presidental candidates visiting the state just before the upcoming primary election. Soundbite from Obama's rally at the Kohl Center. Barack Obama, Interview with Jim Doyle about why he is one of Barack Obama's biggest supporters in Wisconsin. What his predictions are for the election. Hillary Clinton, SOT from Clinton Rally in Madison as lead-in to Tammy Baldwin interview about the candidate. Hillary Clinton, Interview with Tammy Baldwin discussing why she supports Hillary Clinton. Mike Huckabee, Interview recorded earlier in the week. He's been described as being brave to come to the lefty capitol of the world, but Republican candidate Mike Huckabee did just that during his campaign stops in Wisconsin. I asked him what it's like to persist in a campaign that he almost certainly cannot win. (W/ SOT during opening copy), John McCain, The presumed republican frontrunner, John McCain, was also in Wisconsin this week. His campaign office could not break the Senator free to do an interview with us, nor could they arrange a suitable surrogate, so we bring you an excerpt from a town hall meeting John McCain held this afternoon in La Crosse. Take a Vote on Tuesday, Pete, like the rest of us, has watched the parade of candidates march through Wisconsin this week. He came to this revelation. We matter.
