Here and Now, using tax money to perform campaign work, This afternoon yet another former state lawmaker plead guilty to using tax money to perform campaign work at the state Capitol. Steve Foti appeared in Dane County Court today, the fourth of five elected officials snared in the Wisconsin caucus scandal. Foti had been charged with a felony, but he plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of violating the standards of conduct for public officials. That in return for agreeing to testify in the case against the final legislator to face campaign charges, former Assembly Speaker Scott Jenson. Jensen is scheduled for court next month. Delay faces money laundering charges in state court in Texas. Green also supported changes in Wisconsin campaign finance laws - S-B one (senate bill 1) would merge the state elections board and ethics boards into one, new, Government Accountability board. This would have increased enforcment powers. (video of mark green making statement) , public support of campaign reforms, Assembly bill 226 would increase the income tax checkoff from a dollar to five dollars. It would use the money to increase grants to candidates. It would give added money to candidates targeted by independent issue ads and would prohibit fundraising when the legislature is working on the state budget. Last fall she ran for U.S. Senate in New Hampshire at the age of 95.
