- Here and Now, aming money, schools and restored funding for the state autism program, But first up tonight, the man with the plan. State administration secretary Mark Morada has done some of the heavy lifting for the governor in the on-going budget battle. I talked with the secretary in his office earlier today. He was just back from negotiations with one of the last three tribes yet to sign a gaming compact with the state. We talked gaming money, schools and restored funding for the state autism program. Funding that had been eliminated in the governor's original budget proposal, need for more energy production in Wisconsin, Milwaukee based, We Energies has plans to expand coal burning operations in Oak Creek, to the tune of $7 billion. In the last week, the company has experienced two setbacks: the first, a $3 million penalty imposed by the company by the U.S. Justice Department and the EPA for past violations of the Clean Air Act. In addition, We Energies has agreed to spend up to $600 million to reduce emissions at their plants. And on Tuesday, a draft environmental impact statement raised questions about the costs to the consumers and to the environment in the company's plan to expand coal burning at Oak Creek. The impact statement was released by state regulators. Larry Salustro joins us now. He is the senior VP of We Energies. Steve Hiniker is here, as well. He is the director of the Citizens Utility Board, Medicaid Family Funding Project, Legislative committee voted to suspend the federally funded Medicaid Family Funding Project. The vote puts in jeopardy nearly $30 million of federal money earmarked for family planning and women's health in Wisconsin. Some people think that it?s a good thing - Rules Committee Co-chair Republican representative Glenn Grothman. Beloit Democrat and committee member Sen. Judy Robson says the vote is a mistake.
