Yeah and he took a fair amount of line off the reel on the stock but that's good because it

gives us a chance to get the rest of the lines clear and out of the way. He really freed up the lion right there too. Just going to have to go another said Michael my boy. Let me ask you something have you ever seen a fish like that. No no that's amazing. They really get with it. Well you're the next man up. You're surprised they got rid of the weak sister. I don't know how do you always need to do that. I can poke a lot of fun of her because you see she was ran for my two boys and every summer I watched her grow old or new young lady just loves to fish so if I pulled off on it or just like my daughter don't mind I can get it back. Mike White at the Rock Island he holds himself a giant whale sharks salmon so you try to keep him. Forever. Isn't taken up till daylight. That's hardly. What this thing is. A little over the line. That's it and I'll take it over to take a look at this thing. Or get the dog to put over. The metal. Type.

All of that. Was taken off. Again my keyboard up people crank a. Fifty three of the five for one retrieve so it is a fast retrieving real meaning that you should be able to pick up line on him if he runs at your but be afraid to really go on it just. Well the battle with that big salmon raging for the better part of one thousand minutes back and forth across the river with Michael getting the fish close to the boat and then the fish continuing to run and peel all of the line. Michael did you train right out again.

It went on for a number of minutes in a very unfortunate thing happened. The salmon got in very close to the boat shot part of the boat and we found him wrapped hard around the propeller of our engine. Creating a lot of chaos in a very short period of time unless Michael Sam and I got on a very frayed piece of monofilament line decide to get up on a subject from a weapon. Remember that line it's got to be afraid you can't slap on the top that long and we're getting dangerously close again. Be ready to get right near the border right there right there. Talk hold on down Michael. Trim up time up to. Get the pop up. Frank it might be all the way.

Squid today and I'd like to talk for just a minute if I could about. Dodgers and squid this is an old Dodger and this is probably one of the most popular sizes that they have on Lake Ontario. It's a chartreuse and green and it's a number 0 and it's made to throw the squid which is hooked up behind it in a rather erratic manner causing the Chinook hopefully to get excited interest like the squid. Now if I can I'd like to on the talk here and just show you the squid this is a potential squid. It's rubber has 2. Talks in it. And wink you know for a fact that takes about a big hook to get on a John or Jane or does it make a nice size. You'll notice

that the leader length is not much more than the length of the dodger and it's that way because we're finding that leader legs short and what is normally recommended on a package of quad to 14 inches. We're looking at Leader length sort of running 8 and 10 inches to get a much better throw on the squid and we try to demonstrate that when we get out there in the water for you but we're going to be trolling green squids a greenish actress digest and we're going to be using them down river rocks this is a down to ride here. It's an eight foot. This is a strike rod but the number of good down river rides and a good down to ride if you watch Brad we'll you know has glass and graphite composition but the real trick is down here in the real section. This is one of the new Meg 453. It has a modeline capacity and we've loaded this wheel was £17 test and I would recommend 15 to 20 pound test. If you're going to be fishing king salmon in Lake Ontario

has a modeline capacity allowing the salmon to take a pretty torrid run if you like. And it's the kind of kind of realist you really need to hold a big fish. It's pretty difficult to catch some on bass tackle a step out so much line on the initial strike that they can empty your wheel in a hurry. But this has a drag here so that we can control the fish with a drag mechanism. We do set the drags rather loose on the initial strike the release and the down rigorous tight enough that it seems to hook the fish All right. So when you were going to be tolling chartreuse and green Dodgers and green squid and were also going to be another color that's been working very very well in Lake Ontario and that's this. It's a silver dodger and a black squid combination. Now we've loaded the Silversun a block so we know where they are on a big forty seven acres this is a dial 47 h level line very large line capacity excellent hyperreal and there are many many real ones

on the market now I think Shimano makes an excellent one. This is from out of sight and I think that's very similar to this and several good ones on the market. If you're out there you want to be looking for a real with them online capacity that's the important thing. Black Dodge or silver Dodge a black squid. Well partner do you feel like you know where my best can't get a. I think I've had it the way you were talking this morning about how cold it was I hope you got your Snuggies. It was quite clear. However the wind was blowing and the seas were quite rough. We went to work on one side of the boat and the other setting I down riggers. A pretty competent fisherman. He's worked the equipment before and I trust him to take one half of the boat. Into his thing. Located some fish. We were in about. 100 feet of water so. And we were going to attempt to fish down. In the 80 to 90 foot range. Looking for the king salmon. The reports had been super The day before. But we had a bad wind. And heavy fog off the west. And most of the charter boats were not reporting very good catches. The miners still hoped that we'd get a hookup.

And it wasn't too long in coming. We had the first one. Like a king. We didn't know that made me look like a.. Well. I. Felt. Sad. For the whole. Thing. Thank.

God I'm. Here.

Yeah. OK back to fish. Yeah back to fish and.

Fish we did. It all week you could hook onto. It was like. We couldn't find a Chinook salmon in Lake Ontario. But we've been getting reports. That there were a few being taken. I kept waiting for the inevitable. Wink to drop or mishandle a fish. He's an excellent Thracian. But a real butterfingers when it comes to hang on the one. So far today. He was batting a thousand. Believe me I knew it couldn't last. He made it to the box with that one. And then as luck would have it. The smallest fish of the day. Seemed to give him the most trouble. First in just getting it off the line. When I went to place it in the box it happened. Right a comfortable ride out here on.

Your own isn't too often I let somebody work the rigors and work the whole ball away when you still are pretty competent right. Spends a lot of time with me on the boat when a few people I feel comfortable sneaking up on the bow of the boat. My copilot. Got a lock. We're going to have to wait about I can't think of a better place to wait about it right here. Well if you have any doubt the fishing was slow just look at this one team out there was playing basketball with them landing at. The Harlem Globetrotters they're not unique. Most definitely. The boat kept working away. Hoping the salmon would turn on.

A wink I think the doldrums of the afternoon have passed an hour 10 minutes to five. I hear where Yahoo is from boats all around us and seem to be getting cops in a war. We did a minute ago we had one we had one on the way when yeah this guy over here just got one. They may be turning on Charlie I think we got a shot at him right now and let's hope anyhow we've got we've pulled a line to get rid of the sex lines or kind of call for lines correctly with chartreuse and green Dodgers and green suede and blacks with down. It should be the right combination for this time of day. It's a fish. If what I'm seeing around us is any sand fish might be good I'm looking for some action. I don't think we got along the way. I don't either. Get him.
