- Transcript
We are to trace miss school and tonight there is a day March 22nd they're holding a forum to discuss the effects of the Jerry Whitson school fire. Is that most likely an aquittal The A.V. trays had been into those and so in the mouths of these kids that this was a fate those that if whaling see and those of us when Jerry Woodson. And last whaler. No. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Thank.
You. Hard to believe.
Thank you I'm glad to be here to help you get through this crisis and it's been a rough start. I never expected my first day to be quite as interesting as it has been but I can tell you we have such a wonderful school system and such a wonderful community that pulled this together that we were able to open a school on Monday at the Brabourne Center to let you know a lot of people did a lot of work over the weekend to make that happen but we are quite glad to keep school running for your children. We have a plan. Finally we have a play and this afternoon about 4:45 I got the final approval from Commissioner Sievers that we do have a plan for our school facility. And tonight we want to walk you through that and let you see what we will be doing. Last thing you Nicholas a car right there by the door of the lesser square love a direct
after e Earhart. Yes damn we go to your site though the local money that all of yank a sample retard or a new stylus across the needle a or your last quarter we are not quite sure what to make here for get this done. There are more sorry for you yet the name of the say I got a fee home but I mean that in my new school are. OK it is that visible to everybody can you see that. OK first of all before we get started I'd like to introduce some people who are held here to help us answer questions this evening I do not have all the answers but these folks on the stage with me will help us answer those questions. Are you hearing me OK. No. Back to this one. OK. What I said it was before we get started I
want to thank sim people who are on our stage this evening who are here to help us and help you answer some questions we're going to go briefly through a PowerPoint which talks about what we will be doing step by step between now and the end of school. If you have questions please hold them to the end and we will answer your questions as we get to the end of our presentation. See a class of Emperor want us to last a grand finale. A yellow belly laughs over plans to look at several blank at the name of Stanley square but I want to perform one last thing on finance. First of all we have our wonderful honor who is interpreting for us this evening and we thank her. Thank you. Thank you. They always buy amber light stuff and the like gas just buy a board gave
her to me for this stuff. OK. To my left here we have David Jukes who is right now operating our transportation system. Thank you saying you are VERY be doing to sell direct or transport it. And to David's left we have Melanie Bussell who is our special education supervisor. Thanks I mean I mean any Vaseline that's appeared to be so. This expression. And then next we have Barbara grease in our elementary material supervisor. Thank you. Lapis and I guess CLSA you know I better better to be sunk a love addict or are they mad that he enlists meticulous school material. But the reality is calamitous. I would.
Tim Frank who I just met a few minutes ago and I knew I would forget his name before I got to him but Mr. Frank is from the Steven Street Baptist Church and he is an associate pastor and he is housing our school for the rest of the school year thanks to Iraq. And next we'll have Mr. James as our school board chairman. I if. Mr. Black Cosby if you get him here he deserves a standing ovation. We have taken care of our schools. Skip thanks to him. And everybody. Else Dr. Terry Anderson. Thank you.
Thank you. I said to charity the other day I said don't take this the wrong way but if it had to be anybody I'm really glad it's you because I know you will pull this school through this situation. So thank you Terry. First of all we want to talk about our schedule for the next week until. The 30th of March which would be next Friday. Everything will continue as it has at the super Evelyn and that will give us an additional week to set up our classrooms at the Steven Street Baptist Church. So please put your children on the bus and get them to the hoop rebeling and you can see from the pictures that we had that school is in operation it's going great over there. Yes. You know this is the ambient ahead what are you most out in the air when you will see that in Tennessee. I started praying that they might assume
that we tried to slow basses bang up us our buses collided going up our start but I recall hell Nino's almost a month and a bass program I pointing out my nana there is by their voices that I often see a lot of them being almost the last orders in this case are saying they love the single Am I gonna say they love that. OK I did not mention but Ana did the S A C program is in operation before and after school and that is a 450 program. Yeah. Beginning on April 2nd we'll move into our new home. Are your new home that Jimmy waits in and the address is on the handout that you have received or will be receiving in a minute. It is three twenty seven West Steven street and I'm going to ask Mr. Frank if he has any suggestions on how we
might drop off children at that school at this time. Right. Yeah I think Jay Boyd came and met with our facility manager today. He and Patrick came and worked through the day drop off at the bus schedule. Through all of the different transportation needs. So Jay what you address said and I'll let you have that one. Thank you. Just just everyone is. Just by next Wednesday we will we will send out. A detailed play and a map of where parents that drop their children are being there. There I'm a bill. OK I would and the plane at that point time and then also so you know where the buses will be dropping children off in the morning and picking them up in the afternoon so by Wednesday afternoon as the children got home. The thing is that not everyone who got on the siding ma.
They have those even most of that I mean that a lot of give us it in my yelling peace ace and the others where they name or let their likeness in their name or say Lord audio can see him but if I said there were enough of the Ikea me an economist Don't they know see young no middle there my ass over on us they love me most don't do my article how long you'll hear not mine Yanna don't know by how you got in that bad of a Jackie and me into corners these say they had listened a little while back I said they're with other bass. The next thing we want to talk about are the before and school after after school programs and before school programs. As I said Right now we are running the SAC program but we are not running the other program the leap program
and the SAC program again is for a fee The ours has not changed on that but we also have a lease program which is an enrichment program and I'm going to let Dr. Terry Anderson speak to that program. We've had we've had a very successful after school for an afterschool program for the past two years and we've had to suspend that this week while we've been at this because of the facilities. When we go back to Stephen's story we will have a place that the leaps program will continue. And if you are enrolled in the afterschool program in the program you will continue to be enrolled. If you want to get in on that program you will need to contact the Rocher myself and don't do that tonight because I can't I can't do that tonight. But if you contact us if we have places we'll try to fill in we're going to continue just like we have been before that program will
go to 5:15 and you'll have a we'll have a specialized in a certain spot that they will be housed at. Again that's our grant program has been very successful continue that. How do you know without and then you're going to square that that mean that I my son is what audio to say so ses but I hand that out as DAB is safe as safe as the thought of it on my lips is a must then the lease is looked at on this sort of most any bill that I'm highly evolved from the common symbols and his crew are in the list of Stevens. I have a mohawk on being radical and but I'm a good no good enough said look at me you know I'm going to square
that but I'm. Better because he owns the Nemesis past you and said I would Emma. This is contact information and you may have gotten the cell phone number this week that we we have been using the new school line is not yet up in operation we expected to be up in operation in a few. It is now. OK well use the second number please thank you. Almost a size and I have it on the when I must continue out on their own there are no metal that get the most and the square now you know which song they will look at and most of the idea but quite good but it wound up with. PEOPLE AND THAT FOR ME YOUR less savvy Walker look at his defense I mean we may get them in. Next we want to talk about transportation. We know that we have
several children who walk to school or who have walked to school because they lived in the neighborhood. We are arranging transportation for those children. Everybody else's buses will remain the same other than they will drop off children at the church and bring them home if they're not staying for an afterschool program. But as you can see there's a new bus route and it will be driving down Jerry Woodson Avenue and it will stop at Texas Louisiana Summer Haven. And I'm not sure if I spelled the last one right but it's Bolton band. You want to mention. Ok ok I just came to my attention and I'm going to let Mr. Duke speak as well and after the second slide that when we move to Steven street whatever time your child caught the bus it will come 15 minutes earlier to get across town.
Is this a lot I got in that you know the last router that I spotted a lot of their lives by this e-commerce you say you have an open mind. IA lateral doesn't have the luck to lose the most of this year but I don't know Jenny would still not and I believe that you do with some A-list United takes us to the s.a.m having embarked on bang is that when I say my skin of the little massive bang I stab. My cap. You know when you look at me beading is you're so young thing but having a bad time I see it there or US bearing on to say what in the sénéchal by you know back in those buses mega-star by Sandusky is I mean there's there now are these various articles of the Rabbi's bed at the inn seminude And there's the Lauer. The bus number that we're adding that will drive down Jerry Woodson is bus Twenty six in the approximate time of pick up will be 6:50
a.m. and I talk approximate time of drop off will be 3:45 p.m.. By Spain to say barbus record out on New Year's Day let's say sing point that. Is this let us on the caliber the most are lost in couple of minutes does that mean the hunt this ill you have there is of course the last ACE recording to seeing that he made via the plane they were super supreme at all. Lunch and breakfast we've been providing lunch and breakfast to all children at Hooper Evelyn and we will continue to do that next week once we move over to the Stephen Street Baptist Church. It will resume its normal payment method. Breakfast will be served somewhere between 7:15 and 8:00 o'clock and lunch schedule.
I think I got this right between eleven and twelve thirty five lunches may look just slightly different because we have a slightly different kitchen to cook in but we will feed your children come over they say you know yell where some said only comments that I will keep them asked them Branham of these are happy to have my boys that I want to go see not if I don't think he is a little most of the day now as I you know I guess that I see at the kids they said that I mean that I thought you were still call me and Celeste and say said that I mean that those that think I single. That is the end. I'm going to open up the floor for questions. Is there a mike that will be passed around to answer questions. And while we're going through questions we have some great slides of everything that has happened in the past five days and there's not going to be any sound but you can watch the slides while we're going through a question and answers. Does anybody else on the stage have
anything they would like to. Present. Yes I want to share just a couple of things that have really impressed me with the charts where we're going to day. There's been some concerns expressed about what about our music and what about our P.E. and so forth. We've got an area that's going to be perfect for me. The music classes to continue on. We've got an area that's being donated. For us to use that we think is going to be a perfect area for elementary children to participate in P.E. and it'll be under a roof of a huge open space about 8000 square feet. And we're so excited as matter of fact that we think that our Gerri which in children will go ahead and be able to participate in the festival of movement along with the other Putnam County school children this year T-shirts were
presented. So be watching for some information to come home our rehearsal time is getting shorter by the day but we have between what we could beg borrow and in may become buy from some other means or another and a couple of things that we've ordered. We think we'll have the equipment here in the next couple of days to begin rehearsals for that. So maybe we can get a little extra physical education time. Dr. Anderson. Let's say in addition to that library which of course is near and dear to all of our children's hearts. We have had books donated already lots and lots of books. And those kids continue to come in. We had one of our companies that our school libraries buy books from CALL TODAY IN. He said Barbara can you use about two per child and I said I think we can so we've
got at least eight hundred books coming and they'll be here in a couple of ways. Finally I'd like to say that this Saturday if you haven't heard yet be listening to the radio and be watching in the newspaper in front of Office Max Jefferson. They're doing a deal of us you know collecting supplies and so forth to find a list to find out some things that are still needed again and be listening to the radio and be watching in the newspaper which I guess would need to have that out there tomorrow to see what some things are that are going to be needed and bring your children by there they've got a big school bus out front. And certainly everybody wants to see the Jerry wits and kids there. And then finally announce it Dan. It has and I know most of you have not had a chance to go over and see your children at war but I am here to tell you they are at work
and these teachers right here you're not going to find any any better. Thank you. Thank you thank you. Thank you. Thanks. This is a good story is that. So dick around my heart in the USA there be a need there on the lawn. Sorry came on that one.
Don't leave the AC. Going to this song. I need them all. He continued I don't have one. Thank you. If anyone has questions we have mikes set up on either end of the aisle way if you have questions about transportation or what where the building is. Anything you might like to know what we've been doing this we
will be glad to answer those questions. The. Main question I have is the safety of over Evelyn of the kids there at the school with all those steps being there and some of these kids being as little as what they are. Because I know much I'll fail and really busted his lip yesterday. The hoop rebel and the safety of the children who prep on that's a big open space and you understand that. First off let me relieve one concern there is only one door in and one door out the concourse is closed to walkers. Every one of our staff has a badge. The T to you people who must be there are also in a badge. Kids are going to be kids. They may have fallen but they they would have fallen in this building to understand that we have to go up the stairs to go to the bathrooms. And but they are escorted back and forth they are
never you all know me. I don't turn them loose and we are doing everything for safety and the first thing that come to my mind is a got to have a first aid kit. So we're we've got that done and we've had a couple of accidents happen but nothing major. And Tristen was running. And so boys will be boys and then we did have a fail. But again they fall at your home. They fall at your thing. I want to reassure you that we are as safe as can be. And it is quiet as can be. It's much quieter at the hoop than it is in a in a regular classroom. The other thing I'd like to tell you because we think this is quite remarkable. About the attendance. Dr. Ehrhart and Mr. Goolsbee and Mr. and Mr. Boyd have been with me. I'm just from from early Saturday morning and we were concerned about but the kids come when we have school.
We had one day this week two days this way. One day we had 10 kids absent and the next day we had six kids absent. And now it's going back to normal we have 16. But I dare say that in this county there's not another school that had less than a dozen kids absent. And I want to tell you. Thank you. Do you do the Jerry with no parents support. We could not have done this without you. You just fell in step and say that that's where you're going we're going to and you will never know what that support has meant to our staff and to me. Thanks. Thanks for don't you know where.
I started from was that I missed when I did you not that you know what you've done something we're going to see. If only someone as where I live I will spy the hatter's Congress on being the most they need or maybe say yeah EVERY MOVIE EVERY MOVIE say it would be as defined by I don't need to be in the final but I don't say look at DNA and see if it can look. By this respond below me being in mind that where you are not important to us young. Orthodontists the most and really nice being with us. For Telemundo. I receive a little more Charlie up for you of the MR
or are. There boy love all you have and more just mean employee that's in your system I scorn that. Yes then we're going to see that. Say yes to Harlow including in the last five years. Now at the Steven Street location we will be in a couple of different buildings and again your children will not be turned loose. We don't do that it's at Jerry Whitson and we won't will not do that are at our noon of Haitian. If they travel from building to building they will travel with the teacher and the assistant so they work there will be no problem. In addition the church people who need to be there. Not everybody not of not the all the personnel will be but the church personnel that will need to be in our building to come and get something or whatever will also be identified with a badge and I reassure them today that if anybody was in our building who was not there that Miss Pat would stop them
and they will find very quickly that Miss Pat will take care of that problem. Thanks. Thank you. Yes yes and we're gonna get one right I'm going to take the last say you know the little meals by have gone by now. This is my driving lesson and in my eyes even there no sign of one just them all standing by and you see them by a person not the lady I mean under a Don't get so vocal but I am being I do that most guys I thought of their daughter would see one get a closeup voice. Yes I think Amy's that that yeah I'm parked I never really got any less requests you know. And I could have done it without a spat this way to say because of the security and the things
going on. This is been as you can imagine a massive undertaking that we literally had to come up with a plan almost overnight to know what we were going to do because it was our goal to get kids in school as quick as possible. And the feeling in the community has been I cannot believe you did miss a day. And and when I talk to other schools and think about that day you know it's just remarkable. We didn't miss a beat and that's due to the staff at your website. Thank you. I mean I said comparison on this but I would so I. Guess and see the host of the say yes or no. Well you know for the boy I don't care and the oil guys only let me because I see only one of each you're seeing and you're not going on chaos and you don't know so many leaks.
Let me tell you a little bit about how the how this weekend happened on Saturday morning very very early in the really the in the dead of the night because I was sound asleep I got a call that said Jerry with sims on fire and I jumped out of bed I live on the other side of town and my husband and I flew across town and didn't hit a red line Fortunately And so we made a pretty good time and got stopped by a policeman rightly so and we're trying to tell them that we were the principal and we were going to the fire. He said Come ahead server and my husband said Oh no that's the principal. I. Thank you. Thank you. We are really very fortunate to live in this community. I hope you understand that how fortunate you are to live here. The firemen and the policeman and the county rescue squad and the ambulance people that they were where they are on the scene just stay with me and
explained. They asked who the director of schools was and I said Oh no. And I said I think we need to call them both. And as soon as they could get there both of them were there. Dr. Bell from tech was there within an hour and Dr. and Gloria Bell said anything that you need. Brother Frank was there within an hour and said anything that you need and the office begin to come in. But because as you can tell. This wasn't a little fire. The the picture that you see of the massive big opening in the in the wall is my office. And guess what guys. My paddles gone. But I told somebody today that if they didn't behave I was going to paint their toenails. The way it's done. Don't get real comfortable.
The fire literally has destroyed the office complex. Our music room is completely gone. Our computer lab is completely gone. Our tidal areas with MS Win Miss Cathy and Miss Martha who have worked forever for us. Are completely gone. The office area is utterly destroyed. Miss Linda Lay's class is destroyed. And beyond that we have sustained heavy water in most of them in most of the building and smoke throughout the building and the in the end of this question's going to come up. They're working on the insurance. We don't we don't know what can be repaired that's a process and that will be a process that goes on for a long time. But I want you to understand. That the building Jerry Woodson is gone. But the spirit of Jerry Woodson still lives. Thank you.
Thank you. I'm out of practice with the thought of going to Markham when you die by this thought I miss you and I'm going to say when will you know where I you know the I want what I want. But I see to day I did it with some I am still on the sofa. And as you begin to look at these pictures you can understand the massive destruction. There was a comment made in the community. Why did you plan for this. You can't plan for this. You really literally cannot plan for a catastrophe of this sort. Did we have a plan. Yes but it was on my desk. And that's going to answer for a long time.
The team that came that day in the chain that came the next day we worked all day Saturday that we worked Sunday and my team my team gave up their wake in Saturday and Sunday to sit and reflect and listen and listen to maybe what we were going to do. And they began Monday to work. But we could not have done this without. I could not have done this without my rules. Kathleen Earhart Jerry boy the team that sits up here the school board I couldn't have done it without these teachers. We could've done it without the we just the names go on and on and on and on. And we're trying very hard to keep a list of all the people who have helped us. And it's almost it's almost more than we can do. The community literally have opened up their pocketbooks and their hearts to the children of Jerry Whitman. And we will not miss a beat. We will continue and we will be in
better shape because we went on. There's been a building plan in the community. You all know that. And there's been lots of discussion and I think we went from number three to number one. Thank you. Thank you Bill Casey Martin. I think there is. No need for the boy's sake. It's over Sonny boy says Obama when your best moment of his article may do NOT DC. I've young you just plan is predatory buy on the look I mean I'm so ready to sleep. Yeah we're younger than him but those sick people. I'm interested in the long range plans for Gerri when I have a preschooler there will be attending there in the fall in kindergarten and so I'm very interested in that
and miss a little hobbyist crush that she has spelling words this way. We have every intention of trying to get back on campus. This obviously will not be rebuilt by next fall but we are hoping to be able to house. We have one wing of the building that looks like a potentially can be re-used but until we get architects and engineers in there to give us the go ahead that it will know a little bit more we know a little bit more minute by minute if you ask me questions Marla probably know a little bit more tomorrow. I'm going to let Mr. Jerry Maynard speak on the long range plan because he has been working on it quite a while and I am just brand new here. Thank you Dr. R. Right now the long range plan it's just that it's something that has not been adopted by the
school board. We've discussed it. Briefly. We brainstormed it with we've taken no formal action is Dr. Anderson say that. The suggestion the long range plan was to repeal the jury which are on different sides that we don't know what we'll do it depends on the insurance coverage or a lot of questions and issues yet to be decided by the school board and as I said no action has been taken so. I'm sure the public will be informed by halves. Those sanctions do occur but the school board and. Right now we intend to exploit that. All those actions as quickly as we possibly can. And also today never went back to his mother to the family yet he gave you Nino gamein beside again there he has so many coming home buyers who don't know the list will not be the same person you want to skate
in. But I looked on your remained a day most say they've been given or they leave the field get to that or not but they have to ask you that or in any of this if you have any one of them go there to look at my soul but only say New York State but I worked on your pussy really mean they are going to be totally serious see that they have but I stuck it out. MPAA will carry around long enough glasses for Talisay not out of the US to reload the squareness of outcomes through a better no suicide requirement. Dr. Ehrhart. Dr. Anderson and I meet you today. I'm with make the right call for Putnam County we help fire victims. My name is 19 and I do one
interpreter. And we are excited about this Saturday and we want everyone to come out if you can. We want to bring your kids out we're going to have some activities for the children from Jerry works in the other schools too. We're going to have fire trucks and rescue vehicles police cars. Face Painting and we'll surprise you with some other things. So it's from 8:00 to 3:00 at OfficeMax is a huge fundraiser for your school and only for your school. So please come out and join us so I hope everyone enjoys. Thanks. Thanks. Thank you guys. But I mean you know his the survival of not only that I would want to be very impressed but I don't know if the saddle imprint of marks the end
of a good bye that is giving us to see where the horse up. Even I mean we just got this. One of my main questions I have is in regards to all the children's grades their transcripts of specially the fourth graders going to fifth grade. I have a fourth grader and a preschooler and I'm just one of my big concerns is what's going to happen with that. We have lost a lot of records and I've got an exemption from the State Department on a lot of things right now and they understand that we have lost our records and that we will be working towards replacing those records but I'm going to let Dr. Anderson address that question. The kids were thrilled they didn't get report cards yesterday. Does it mean they're off the hook. We intend to recreate as much as possible.
There were two things that we needed to find in our building. One was the inventory and we found the inventory and it was unscathed. And we found the emergency numbers and they were under water but we've been able to dry them out and recreate them. I have a team my title team has been working on data create rate creation. Some teachers had their laptops at home that had grades some of them had taken great books home and we will do our very best to recreate everything to the best of our ability. It may take us a little while longer but it will be there. What if you have if you had school records if you had made records where you had said in specialized meetings if you have copies of the act that would be a wonderful bit because you could send those to us and we would not have to recreate. We could take those records so if you had any kind of records of that nature if you would like to bring them they and we will make a copy of that and that with Barry that would very much help us.
You sound like the story last week I see honest most came of that. I thought if I picked on you because you know sinusitis by this and when I used to the empathy say yeah I guess that I'm going to bite or no I'm not assuming like I mean because you don't know what it is there will be a bit of noise say look if any of the city's three year old similar hole knows where your side of the I'm going to buy the ticket. Sophie and those records so locked about his own historian aboard the amp and you don't really mind that on casino thinning it will follow or not but on the other how cynical. Yeah I mean I'm not massive he said but I left early because Eunice. I would just like to take this opportunity to tell you a lie that we are having and who I am and book fair and it's going to start. March to 26 and it will land on that Saturday March 30 farce
is will be running from ten to six every day. There will be Don I should Vox said. And we just found out that Dr. Carolyn Ross of Ross family medicine will match the first thousand dollars that we take in. There will be tickets there where you can down a dollar and a scholastic book fair to match it and give it to some charity. We'd like to see everybody there's going to be a really good time. It's on the corner. Of willow and spring in the empty bank building. You got sun struck him misses a place him and. It starts on Monday. And runs. He's very stubborn on the sort of the last radio he even took him on most of them meeting a lady. The serious sickest Stasio campus and on my TL. You spineless.
Then we know what your supreme. Are you must not laugh area they leave little comments some don't illuminate. You sit there and think that you know there must be an unsolvable. US and yes I say they're not bad but I'm willing to be don't care laugh in the end any little CM I don't need. But it gave me and I got me a new multiball reality than necessary. I said from under her feet the commune side who has been the say says that there are three by you will know that he has a bank in your little feast your little miss in a bundle get what a star seal is not the one I love more than the love for any of them the MNC or American of the Rose Garden numerous other novel. Locked on the back of the bar much to see the morning
the onion that beat me Don't ever say I wouldn't mean don't let a soul know by that I don't know how that'll mean dollars but I don't know when. I see the light faded from the sun don't miss I mean to say something but you know I said you have to be. First I want to think. Dr. Anderson and Miss Locke and Miss Hanson and all the teachers for making everything as normal as you possibly can and if you know my kids you know how important it is the question I want to ask though was my son was really looking forward to a second grade swimming lessons. Are you still going to continue with the extracurricular activities. Are swimming lessons were supposed to start tomorrow. They have been delayed one way and we will continue we will have swimming lessons the YMCA that will continue as usual. There will be no charge for those lessons because we will use the money that we had set
aside previously for those lessons. We really are going to be back to normal. We are going to I mean it's going to be a stick man asked me that on the radio and I said OK we have a new definition of normal. You understand what we really are going to be back to normal the things that we part pliant and the things that we typically do at the end of the year. We are still going to do one things at worst was say we're the year books. So we'll have your books. And we'll have school pictures and we'll have swimming lessons and field day usually happens in May and we will have a field day in May because we're having a field day tomorrow. But all those things that typically make up school at Jere Whitson and all those traditions kindergarten graduation and fourth grade. We just have it in a different place. Now one thing I want to do that I will that I think will mean a lot to the third and fourth graders are we're going to as we begin to tear that building down and you can see that big gaping hole where my office
is there's lots of bricks. We're going to take some bricks and clean them and do an art project. And every child will get a brick from the old cherry woods. Thank you. Thank. You really seriously considering selling them off one by one. They've all laughed at me. But we are we think but we are going to use some of the bricks were going to save some of the breaks I would hope that we could save some of the breaks and then make a place at our new location. When we when we have a permanent home to memorialize our old location. Thank. You number one. I'm going to see open aim of the family from handling things so not to get. Everyone to where they can even have one.
System are not on my game. Then ye must summon the corner glasses they had been I. Just spat but I am and am not sick I'm so not only glasses barely BMA say the NACA lesser than I thought of you in this but on the other side windows without. A maid. Yes I've been tsunami looked as a vital and only really line you know. This is. Only one that's full of the one you see ample where you like to be that is not to see him for the name but I think Daniel was 7 I've been there for a minute my nan RCA people get almost up and they have a way in which I give you guys but I don't need a lawmaker to pull the most born brother Norman. They say I say See I actually IS GREAT. Dr. Anderson I want to say I live right next door to the school I live in the trailer park right
next door. I left out at 4:00 in the morning I didn't know the school was on far. My husband called me and told me I miss Nancy. Don't worry Mickey's not going anywhere. She loves you. Jerry waits and I went there when I was younger I don't know how long I weigh it it was a long time ago but I thank you all for everything the shins and then my little girl is the happiest little girl and I would not send her anywhere. But Gerry Whitson thank. You and I believe me I can say I missed you and that's where you were last night missed ye a second the economic analysis of this film by him. First let me have a policy. Does your status with or e e s from the Sunni vest only contain fancy living with release
E S A C until I embraced the policy on the left but what there are manners in the licking as well as the line where. We are going to see that. But on the zone of the sun and the nights when you did look some more. But I can only in your continuing in bonus question. I just want to say I want to thank a few people this evening my heart went out to this school. My daughter also graduated from the school a number of years ago she's now at UTI Memphis in a medical program soldiery which. Has. As great learning for their children. When I heard this happened and we had our first meetings we talked about all different possibilities we have a few empty classrooms we have a few empty chairs in various classrooms around the county and some of the discussions
were how do we get these kids out to all these different places him. I was pretty adamant that I wanted to keep this school together whatever way we could we needed to keep the school together. Thanks. It'll thank you I think. I think in most children's lives at this age school can be their comfort and we need to keep that comfort there for them but thank you for the community for supporting me in that I know that it got to be a little controversy though but thank you for supporting me in that. I'd like to recognize in the audience I can hardly see out there with the light shining but I know we have some county commissioners and some board members if you would stand to be recognized please. Thank. You oatmeal. Thank you. I'd like to thank David Andrews and our Cookeville police department for helping us direct traffic this evening.
Thank you OK. If there's anyone here from our fire department I would really like to thank them I know they were there very much. I'd like to thank Dr. Linda Nash who is the principal of this school and has hosted and opened her doors residency. And there are several folks out there from the Board of Education I believe care and food services for this year here and there you are. Thank you Karen for feeding our children. That Dr. Stan because Wahoo has made sure that all of our teachers work that all we thank you very much. On. And on you know there are some more folks in the back but I can't just stand and be recognized and thank you.
Conclude this. I thank you this is my first community event and I'm just glad to be here. I'm so sorry we have one more question and I didn't see it originally. It was a couple comments about the brakes. As a teacher I'd like to know if I get one. But I just want to thank everyone as a teacher from Jerry with us and that is pulled together and done so many great things for us the supplies coming in and the experiences your children of bad. Act tech and how hospitable they have been. I just want you to know your children today. A lot of them went through a soccer clinic with the girls. Soccer team we had a tennis clinic the Cookeville high school's tennis team came down and taught some of our kids tennis and so now they're interested in a new sport.
All of the guidance counselors from the high school all the way down the elementary schools were at our school on Monday to help and we are the perfect at the perfect place to take education students come by and help and our kids just absolutely love to work with the education students. And I would just like to thank everybody on behalf of our staff. Let me let me. Thank you in there to understand under knowing what I for my. Son. Is going to be. I'm going to start to run for you.
We're going you know you're going to come home look like I was similar with him when I heard. Thank you and I'm sorry I forgot to thank one other person Mr. Alcott from Tech brought in the. Bass section the brass section and played music for our students at lunch time on to say it was absolutely wonderful. And thank you and thank you. And this ends the form on the Jerry with unscrew firing pin the thanks on community. The phone number that you can call for any information regarding the school or bus transportation is 9 3 1 5 2 6 65
75. We we are so grateful that we were able to be here. This is a community service offered to you all by WCT TV your public television station in the night. What else can the community do for you I know that Ted and Dr. Bell have just responded amazingly. They've got this whole floor covered. He was here this morning to greet the children and I now have is he is and that was so wonderful. We had so many volunteer students from Tekken education apartment whatever they might our birth certificates for us. We weren't even a day on a day for birthdays. And that means so much to the children to get their nine called in in their work I recognized. So we had people here for they at we had extra students who just helped bring the children in and talk to them show them where to go where their class was. So many wonderful people they provided lunch for the faculty and staff. And we're just I mean we're just.
You know it's really hard for us to take and take and we've always tried to do do our Say off. But this is just been wonderful the outpouring from the community has been wonderful. I don't know if you can get a picture of all the school supplies we have back here. We had a church just bring in some fresh fruit for the teachers faculty and staff. And how my cookies you know just as it were going to be. And we have you know water for the teachers different things the children our food service Miss Dalton and Miss Jennifer our cafeteria manager. They are making sack lunches offsite bring him here so the kids all got to go outside and eat lunch today under the pretty bread for players out here and the lunches were just tight. They enjoyed their sack lunch enjoyed being outside the fresh air and everything. But this morning was really sweet Let me tell you this real quick. They got here and Dr. Anderson talked to them about our school burning and the different things that it happened.
And of course then we got to cheer because we had two hampsters in kindergarten. And not only we're going to have to tell the children that their school was gone but that the two hampsters. Yesterday Dr. Anderson. Michael do SPI and Dr. Ehrhart. Went over to Jerry with him with the fire inspector and the back of the building was not destroyed like the front part was. There is water damage and there is smoke damage. But they heard something and they looked into different rooms and our little hamsters were allowed. So our hamster spent the night at the central office. And we have them and the children were just real because we didn't want to have to tell him on top of everything else that their classroom Payette was gone. So we're so thrilled with that. But you know it's been a great day. We're trying to concentrate on what's left and not what's lost what's left of these children. All the great knowledge that the teachers and support staff have it Jerry quits and to give to these
children all the love they have to give. So you know we lost a building we can get another BAILDON all the things that really matter we still have and we're going to build on the act. Well the children the staff at Jerry Whitson are just amazing and you all can tell Miss Pat is probably example of the attitude I heard Miss Anderson speak this morning. And you could never tell she. Up a couple times because they did lose their building but boy they have the spirit here. And Jerry Woodson will go on forever how old was that build and you know Pat. You know it was built in different stages I think the oldest part was maybe built in the early 50s. And where the office was was at one time a cafeteria then it was a library and then it was an office. So it's been there a long time. And that was the part that was destroyed. More damage you know. But you had asked me earlier what can people do in the community. We are we do have quite a few school supplies I'm sure we don't have everything we need but if if classrooms or other schools some people have call from other counties you know
if teachers want to take up books site have a child bring in a book. You know that's the things that are going to be hard to replies because we have a teacher's been here thirty seven years and she's collected books for 37 years. So you know that's stuff that's going to be hard to reply as people bring in pencils and papers and we need all of that. But to have different books you know the Dr. Seuss books the different things we need those things when we can and if you'll take it to the discovery Depot downtown this is the toy store on the west side. Also we're talking cash donations you can make a check out to Jerry Whitson elementary school and we are setting up a separate account for the at. So for everything that comes in and because there are so many things that you don't think you know we need a new mom. You know there's so many things you don't think of until you start the school day. What are you still lacking. And they're going to be things on down the road that we need that you know we haven't had time to think about yet
that the community has just been wonderful and I can't say enough about our new director about Dr. Bale here at 10:00. All the people attacked this morning were just wonderful. And we just thank everyone so much we you know everybody was in a good mood this morning. Parents were thankful that we were here. We didn't have anyone grumbling in come whining and we've had a wonderful day here. You know we just came in with exuberance and excitement and we can do this and we can do it for nine more weeks. Well there's no doubt you can do it and your attitude shows it. So you all we're going to put it on Appleton board. Remember discovery Depot if you want to drop off any items at all and they are setting up an account a special account you can make a donation. What's in school. Do you want those dropped over the bank or. I think that we're dropping that off at Discovery Depot also. Adelaide they want to bring it here will be at the home this way. Or send it to the central office on Spring Street. Any of the news if it's a
check they'll get it to us. This is the plus about living in a small community. Boy when you live in a small community like this everyone rallies around to help those in need during a disaster area. Every school has done so much you know just all of the counselors from the other school came here this morning to help the children need any extra counseling course we have one counselor but she couldn't see everybody so just the outpouring has been wonderful. They are going to be fine we're going to be fine. Thank you so much Ms Pat. I know you don't want to get on camera but you've done a wonderful job. You all keep in your prayers remember discovery Depot or just coming out of the loop. Thank you. And what a great throw. And again we see the goalie go off fans going
to Larry she have I guess I gave away a secret there on I said choice that's what they call that like 600 choice pumpin. Steven Britton pumps all the out Fake Larry shit goes right down the sideline a beautiful beautiful throw at the quarterback. A huge play for the gold eagles to get in the end zone. Buster heard that. Debate boring for points here and this and this quarter that's doing their job. Stop worrying. We have a really big momentum shift. In 2014 I want. To get the job done the deed and Grant pointed out. And another point that just makes a great throw great catch by Larry ship and you'll see the speech is running
the sideline drill keeping his feet in bounds dive for the end zone get in there Mr. ship. Good throw. Good catch good run. And that's a big play for gold for the Golden Eagle fans and will get them a little bit excited but a big moment of change a big play for the fans now minute 21 to go. Mr. Topps has been very consistent for Murray State as well and doing the football so the fans can you know almost more you scored maybe a little too quick. They're happy to have your happens but the. Risk coming in
a player and those officials are part of the field. Sometimes they get in the way I have to tell this one Jackie board let me get away with a concussion so get in the way. If you're going to get away you won't be happy with me. It is a 21 48 margin for the Golden Eagle just over a minute 20 remaining in the first half has been up to 30 for Robbie wise. Just a little swing pass and didn't win the job by the Golden Eagle defense not letting it get out of bounds. Murray has
two timeouts but I believe they're going to be happy. They're not really seem to be in any hurry so they may run the football and go to the locker room down or they will get the kickoff to start the second half. If they don't score here they'll have a chance at the beginning the second to rise all the way at this time right. Chris Grimes there tackle for the Golden Eagles at his cornerback position. Coming up I believe Grimes is about 167 was at 34 on the carry about 175 close and size but Grimes is able to go down and take his take his legs out from under him. Nice tackle. We'll have to actually I don't have to run a play on the play clock is all about. He replaces props
for the first period it's been a good one. And I have to. See this ball.
