Segment Description
It's an understatement to say it's been an emotional year for Josue Dimina, who escaped from the Republic of Congo and arrived as a refugee in Burlington last year. He was forced to flee when members of his tribe were threatened by mercenary forces in the African nation that's suffered through tribal conflicts and civil war for years. Josue Dimina left behind a life as a doctor, and more painfully still, his family. The past year has been spent trying to track down his loved ones and bring them to Vermont. He's had a lot help from Vermont's medical community, working with researchers at the University of Vermont's medical community, working with researchers at the University of Vermont's Biology Department where Joshua now works. He spoke with Mitch Wertlieb about his efforts to find his family and bring them to Vermont. Note: The University of Vermont has set up a fund for people interested in contributing money to aid Josue in his attempts to bring his family to the United States.
