- Segment Description
- Professional baseball is definitely returning to Bennington. The owner of the Bennington Bombers has signed an agreement for the baseball team to begin play at Southern Vermont College. Owner Jack Appelman initially wanted to build a new ballpark to host the team. But environmental problems on the site of a former landfill made that too difficult. So he signed an agreement with college President Karen Gross on Friday. That means the New York Collegiate Baseball League team will begin play on June eighth as scheduled. Bennington has not had a semi-professional baseball team since the Bennington Generals played at Mount Anthony Union High School until the mid-1990s.
