1989 Seekseequa District Tribal Council Nominees

Monday April 3rd is tribal council election day for the confederated tribes of Warm Springs. As a public service for the Warm Springs community. KW also presents a meet the tribal council nominee's program. This hour we present the nominees from the Seek-Seek district. Hello my name is Gerald I'm Jim and I'm running for council for this week's Weekly distric. I'd like to encourage the people there get out and vote and appreciated if they will. Think of me in for the bull. And. I'm thankful that my Sundays nominated me for to run for council because I feel. I've lived here all my life and. I could do good for our people. For I belong to the three Confederate tribes here on the reservation and I work for everybody. I'm out there to support all our people all the time and I'd appreciate if you people would think of me and vote. For me. Thank you.

My name is Carolyn we will. I am I am proud of my one have Piute in one half who sought a bloodline. I am an enrolled member of the Warm Springs Confederate tribes and a member of the 6 secret district I grew up in six equal and today I make my home there with my family. I am a write in candidate for one of the slots for the six equal district tribal council in the back of my mind. I have looked forward to this day. By this I mean the possibility of representing the 60 quid district as well as the honor of representing the confederated tribes. Simply being asked to be a writing candidate for this district is an honor for me. I have tried very hard to listen to the people of this reservation particularly the elders and have found

and have carefully watched the directions the tribes are going and I have become concerned. I find myself caught between the traditional value of respect for the elders and my desire to speak out which is every tribal members right. The freedom of speech. I don't profess to know all the answers and I certainly won't try to solve all problems. I am not afraid to speak out and at the same time I don't believe I speak rationally either. I have over the years I've had good support from all three districts from people of all three districts and they've encouraged me toward reaching Tribal Council. Because of their concerns and their knowledge of the type of person I am in past years the people of this reservation have cried out for good leadership and good guidance. Nobody seems to have heard

these cries. And this really concerns me because the people or the voice. The people of the confederated tribes should expect no less than high ethical standards of the council. People are people and in being like this everyone has faults but we also have the tool to correct ourselves our own ability to make a decision to do this. My work experience ranges from the health field I worked with financial services I worked with administration and in the field of law enforcement and in the back of my mind I was preparing myself for the day that I hope to seek a seat on tribal council. Because it's important to know all these areas because the whole organization is combined in and it's sad to see that many council people have

visited employee works like to see what's happening in the areas or just to mingle with the people and we people need to have that. There are many many concerns confronting the tribal council and will be coming up in the future and the people of the reservation have a right to be informed and have a right to make a decision. All of those important matters. I can't make any promises to the people of the 60 could district except that I will do the very best job that I can. I encourage all in all Jubal voters to go to the polls and cast your vote no matter who is elected. This is a critical time especially for 60 could district and we need to be united as a district and as a confederation. Thank you for your support. I care.
