- I'm Jackie Northam, I'm Foreign Affairs Correspondent for National Public Radio. Sometimes you get three hours notice, other times you get two days notice or a week's notice before you head off again. You just try to do whatever you can. There are two things that I always take. One is a headscarf. And the other is a bathing suit, because it's just so hard getting any kind of exercise when you're on the road. But at a hotel on the way in or the way out there's always a pool. Those two things are always ready to go with me for sure. The life of a foreign correspondent is irregular and unpredictable, but the quality of reporting they bring you is consistent and reliable. Jackie doen't know where her next assignment will take her, but your membership dollars will help her get there.
