- The first part of an interview with Risley \0xFFFDPappy\0xFFFD Triche conducted for Louisiana: A History. Triche of Napoleonville, Louisiana, served in the Louisiana House of Representatives for 17 years (1955-1968, 1972-1976). He discusses the 1960 special sessions in which the legislature sought to delay the integration of the New Orleans Public schools including: his role as Governor Jimmie Davis\0xFFFD floor leader on the segregation issue; Davis\0xFFFD lack of a plan in dealing with school integration; the heavy emotions and irrational fears of the sessions; the feeling that the legislators were in a battle with Judge J. Skelly Wright, who continually struck down their segregationist legislation as unconstitutional; being named the head of the Orleans Parish School Board during the crisis; Moon Landrieu as one of the only vocal opponents of the segregationist legislation; and his regret over his actions during the sessions.
