Description
Description
Depending on who you talk to, Dudley "Coozan Dud" LeBlanc was either a skilled entrepreneur or an accomplished snake-oil salesman. During the1940s and early '50s, LeBlanc made millions selling his "Miracle Elixir" Hadacol with the help of the top stars of Hollywood and country music. Dudley J. LeBlanc was also a 50-year veteran of Louisiana politics who battled Huey Long's political machine, developed the Louisiana Old Age pension, and advocated the then-unpopular causes of education and health care. As one of the founding fathers of the Cajun Renaissance movement, LeBlanc fought to preserve the French language and culture in Louisiana when it was against the law to speak French in the schools, and helped to make Louisiana the only bilingual state in the nation. Told by his granddaughter, filmmaker Michelle LeBlanc, the story of "Coozan Dud" comes to life with the same humor and passion of LeBlanc himself.
