Description
This special performance of Lake Charles composer Keith Gates "An American Requiem" was recorded March 2, 2007 at the Rosa Hart Theatre of the Lake Charles Civic Center. Written by Gates in memory of the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks, members of the Voices of London choir were chosen to sing the solo roles to emphasize the international aspect of the tragedy. Also performing were the McNeese Wind Symphony under the direction of Dr. Zane Douglass and the McNeese Chamber Singers under the direction of Dr. Darryl Jones. Lake Charles Mayor Randy Roach read the introduction to the requiem, which recounts the last phone call made by a passenger on Flight 93 before he and others wrestled control of the plane from the hijackers.
