- The third part of an interview with Moon Landrieu conducted for Louisiana: A History. Landrieu served as a state representative (1960-1966), New Orleans City Council Member at-large (1966-1970) and Mayor of New Orleans (1970-1978), where he fought for racial integration. He discusses integration in Louisiana as compared to other Southern states; outlawing segregation across the board in the City of New Orleans in 1969; the contributions of NAACP lawyer A.P. Tureaud and Ernest \0xFFFDDutch\0xFFFD Morial, the first African American Mayor of New Orleans, to integration in New Orleans; and the importance of the building of the Louisiana Superdome to the growth of downtown New Orleans and the changing racial attitudes in the city.
