[Off Camera Speaker #1] If you want to run through it with your prompter operator, to just, it's been a month. Gee it's been a month and a half hasn't it? [ Gwyneth Gamble] Yep [Off camera speaker #1] Forgotten how to read [Off Camera #1] Start off on that two shot And we stay on it and then when you get into here you just start talking on a two shot and then just turn to one. And we're there. We're on you. And I'm Jim... go ahead. Mmmkay. Good evening and welcome to this edition of Front Street Weekly. I'm Gwyneth Gamble Boothe. And I'm Jim Swenson. Tonight we'll be taking a look at a couple of professions that we've all come to depend on. Firefighters and dispatchers that handle the 911 calls. Gwyneth: As you know 911 is the telephone number that can get you immediate help for almost any emergency. But the system depends on skilled operators and reports and as Jeff Schaffer reports, many of the 911 centers are finding that new dispatchers simply can't handle the stress and complexity of the
job. Officials at both Portland Community College and Clackamas Community College say there's a lot of interest in the new 911 dispatcher program. More than 250 people applied for 60 openings. Classes will be getting underway in September. The next profession we'll be looking at-- oh that must be you. [Jim] Yeah. Are we, uh, are we doing 731 first? We have different-- Yes, that's correct. Alright. Is that the way? That's the mural. Say, we need to keep that scarf-- good. Well-- Sorry to be-- That's alright. I want to see. OK. We've got it now. Here they go through script 731. Alright. Good evening and welcome to this edition of Front Street Weekly, I'm Jim Swenson. And I'm Gwyneth Gamble Booth. Our first report tonight deals with street gangs, a topic that has been making front page news for months.
Gang leaders-- violence to other west coast cities, including Portland. Gang related drive-- drive by shootings. Gang related drive by shooting are becoming commonplace. Earlier this month two innocent children were shot in what police believe was a gang related shooting. Drive by. Audio courtesy of OPB radio. [Beeping] Got it. OK. Alright. Now if there's any way that you can pan your prompter camera to the right about an inch.
Hello, prompter camera. Pan to the right about an inch. Oh sorry. Right.
