- French newsreel-style documentary about the Indochinese War, focused on Hanoi in what was then known as the province of Tonkin. Scenes of the city and surrounding area, buildings in ruins from the war. Shots of bodies, refugees, and graves. French soldiers prepare to defend Hanoi. They possess advanced military equipment: fighter planes, battleships, tanks. Battle in a rice paddy. Bombs and paratroopers fall from French airplanes. Wounded soldiers are evacuated. Vietnamese peasants harvest rice.
