Hi, I'm Jerry Brigham. I'm General Manager of KLA-UKAM and TV. Some days, I'm also a horrible collide of turn to terror theater. I think it's very important that the community here in Bethel and the villages surrounding us support public radio and television because after all, we're your service and your station. The better equipped we are to serve you, the better we will serve you. And to me at least, money raised locally is more precious and more meaningful than money raised from afar because it's a token of your appreciation and we can then turn it directly back to you and the benefits that you get from public broadcasting. It's that simple. Hello, I'm Alan Axe here. I'm the new program director for KLA-UKAM Television. I just took this position a couple of weeks ago and I am still trying
to learn what all is involved in the job. I do know that if you don't support KLA-UK during the fundraiser, we won't be able to bring you a lot of the television programs that you like and enjoy. So, do support KLA-UK. Thank you. Hello, I'm Mitch Trotto. I'm the new director here at KLA-UK. I think this is one of the most important things that KLA-UK does is bring you the news every day and every evening and keep track of what's going on around the delta and what's going on other places that affects everybody here in the delta. Hi, I'm Marie Dallard. I'm the early morning DJ here at KLA-UK and I'm with you every Monday through Friday from 6 to 9 a.m. I get up at about 4 o'clock every morning to get here in time to be ready for you guys and it's a lot of fun. I'm glad I do it. It's a good job and it's a good station. And while we're talking to you today is we want to get right down to the point of the fundraiser
which is being held Friday and Saturday, 13th and 14th of November and it's a really important part of the K1-UK year because as you know K1-UK is a public radio station which means we're supported by you and without you we have no audience but we also have no means of support. So if you can find it in your heart to be generous we would surely appreciate it and there's many ways you can contribute. Of course the biggest one is money but then we also need records. If anybody has records they'd like to donate. If they'd like to be a volunteer DJ that's always helpful when people aren't here. There are many ways you can help out and I just hope that you look upon us and find a place in your heart to be generous, Friday and Saturday. Hi my name is LaNita Hawkins and I'm a reporter here at K1-UK. Our staff works hard every
day to keep you informed of what's happening here in Bethel End in around the state and we hope that you'll continue to contribute to us as you have in your past and help us keep you informed. I'm Peter Twitchel here at K1-UK and I work on the radio and I try to have fun as much as possible. It's been fun these many years since the old boom days and since KYK first went on the air here in Bethel back in 71. We've depended largely in the last few years on what grants we could get and state and federal monies. Also
contributions from the people locally here in Bethel End surrounding area within this region, the AVCP region. What I do mainly here at Station is I come to work. It's an 8-4 job or a 95 which other, depending which morning I don't sleep in, but you know back when we had monies coming to a station that was readily available. It wasn't a problem back then before the state had its money problems in the economic situation in general. When it was good across the United States, we had monies to go out to the villages and travel
within this area collecting stories, interviewing elders, the people out there who had legends, Eskimo tales that they could share with us. We traveled on a monthly basis and within the last couple of years, last three years, we've not been able to do that. Thanks to your contributions, we're able to bring you local news, or we're still able to go out and get interviews when we can catch people here in town that are passing through. We've got the equipment to do that. Right now I've got a typewriter that needs a repair job and it takes your donations to keep the radio station going. We need new records in our country and western selection. We need new gospel records for Sunday morning this
was shocking. In general, I guess we need to replenish our records, replace the ones that are getting thrashed because of wear and tear. Hi, my name is Jill Hellnick and I'm one of the TV switchers here at KYUK and I think public broadcasting is important for the people because it provides them an educational
opportunity which they might not get on the other networks which only broadcast in commercial format and here at KYUK we think everyone should support it because it's a worthy cause. Thank you very much and feel free to ask me when we walk through to the Pushwall Center ings as far as we walk through. I could genuinely remember my trips and the thanks a lot.
We know you. Hello, my name is Philip Serida, we need your support, we appreciate it very much if you don't need as much as you can, thank you. Hi, I'm Elizabeth Falco and I'm the radio program manager here at Kayla UK and I'm on the airlight now, like I am every afternoon from one to five and hope everybody out there enjoys the music I play and I like to get calls from you. If you have a song you want to hear, you always welcome to call me up and ask me what you want to hear. Now we're working on the fundraiser right now and I think it'll be a good time. In fact, I know it will be a good time.
It'll be a little scary but I think the kids will enjoy that. It's Friday the 13th of fundraiser and even though that's an unlucky day, really I think everybody should come down because the more people we're here, the more the bad luck can be spread around and so by the time it gets to, if there's 3,000 people here there are one 3,000th of a bad luck really isn't so bad so anyway you need to support Kayla UK I think so that we can keep playing music for you on the radio every day and so we can bring you the news on the radio and television and well I don't know why else. Those are two good reasons anyway but that's all I can think of right now. I'm sure other people have thought of more and you can probably think of a few ones yourself. So, support Kayla UK at the fundraiser Friday and Saturday night. Hi, I'm Jim McCurdy, an engineer here at Kayla UK TV. Hi, I'm Bob Summer, Public Affairs Director for Kayla UK. Most of you know me from talkline
or you do you come on radio and I'll review on television. I'll support Kayla UK. We couldn't do these programs without your support. Hi, I'm Cheryl Tatum. I work with Allen and TV programming. We hope you'll join us and show your support during our fundraiser Friday the 13th and November 14th right here at Kayla UK. Hi, I'm Bob Summer and I'm doing a new service assistant for Kayla UK. Please support Kayla UK during the number also. Hi, my name is Lucie Whitman and I'm still here as you know and we are asking for your help. Little bit helps you know and if you can put in one, two, three, four, five or so it'll be a big help to us. Thank you. Kayla UK. Hi, I'm Mike Martz and for the past five years I've worked here in the TV production
department at Kayla UK. I just wanted to say thank you for your strong support for local public broadcasting. All of us that work here in the TV production department try to bring you some interesting programs about the people, the lifestyle and the history of Bethel and the Yukon Kuskakwim Delta. We couldn't do it without your support. Hello, I'm Richard Goldstein. I work at Kayla UK's video production department. One of the nice things about public television is the terrific assortment of programs that it provides for you the viewers. Programs like Nova, programs like Masterpiece Theatre, Sesame Street, just to name a very few. In addition, because of your support of Kayla UK, we're able to produce here programs that reflect our area, programs like We of the River, racing the wind, eyes of the spirit, to name just a few of the 40 or so documentaries
that Kayla UK has been able to produce over the years. We're able to do that because of your support, you the viewing public, your donations during our fundraiser are most crucial to our continuing ability to develop these documentaries. So if you're not doing anything Friday the 13th and Saturday the 14th of November that's this next Friday and Saturday, come on down to our studios here, help us with our fundraiser, we'll have food, we'll have games, we'll have lots of scary things for your kids and hope to see you then and I'm going to get back to typing right now. Thanks a lot. Hello, my name is John McDonald, I'm production manager at Kayla UK TV and for me the most important
part of Kayla UK TV is local production. This year we've produced two programs that won national awards and it's all because of your support. I hope that you continue to support Kayla UK and local production because it's one way that we're really in touch with the local community and we're the only ones that can do it. Hi, my name's Todd, I'm the newest switcher here at Kayla UK. Thanks to your local support in the past, they made it with a higher employees like me and just from your future pledges and so forth you can get even more equipment, better programming and everything. So, you know, just help out and give us some good money and all thanks.
