First, I would like to congratulate the graduates, and they're a couple of songs that I'm listening to the songs being added and sang and remember the song an animal would wanted to Sitting on your mother's lap, not a girl, but my most shall bring. And now you look back at us by this dress of memory. A memory, a memory, a memory.
Days happen by your self, a child, no more. Your future lives will be your hands made. If you were being content only, you could make it happen. For it's now, an autumn memory. Our own, their lives another day, a time to move on. We're so high and in every way. Those stumble with strength rose again.
Keep standing with your feet on the ground. Towards success. I'm sure you make it right. Keep standing with your feet on the ground. Towards success. I'm sure you make it right. Thank you very much, Anna. I know we'll expect to see you sitting in this room next year.
I have a special privilege during this part of our ceremony. The accrete division sponsors a little recognition. The college enjoys a very dedicated faculty that have been here for many of them for a considerable amount of time and are really involved with the Delta. It's difficult to select one of those as an outstanding faculty person. I sense recognized four excellent outstanding faculty members in that last award. However, again, choices must be made. I would like to provide some special recognition today to a faculty member that we don't always see a lot of at the college. By the college I mean in the main campus.
This faculty person does his teaching during in a different part of three to four weeks and receive training for session one, two or three and then go back to the villages. And in recognition of his extreme hard work and dedication to those students. I'd like to call for with Mr. Robert Cravens. I should mention too that Cree provides more than the plaque actually. They provide us a little extra token of appreciation which I'll distribute later today. The winners of these awards receive $100 in recognition for their special efforts. Then we have many dedicated staff members other than faculty members of the college.
And so we try to locate the, you know, select one of those people to especially honor. And again it's a difficult choice and I could list literally a dozen or more people I think have put out a special tremendous effort. I would comment for example with the hand of maybe she'll hear us and buy a china air. And the last award in this regard is goes to a person who everyone always finds can be counted on no matter what the task or what the responsibility or just this person is constantly faithfully working in a dedicated fashion of the college and throughout the Delta. And I hear nothing but positive responses from the villages that the person deals with directly from principals and community members and other staff members also recognize that a willing person has to always help out and assist in all aspects of the college.
I'd like to call forth as a co-recipient of the staff member of the year award. Mr. John DeLonic. Thank you. You know, I think a person who's only is being the chief level around you. And that workshop is really as good people. People that help me do my job. People that type of thing. They're playing your general way back there. Share it out as well. When I'm off this apartment, they talk back there and talk like, they can deal.
I don't know. It's why you collect calls when I call it in the village. And Jerry works at the front and help you copy the jobs. And now let's go back there and help them. And of course, I work for a great guy, Gene Dye. And that is the beginning of the presentation of our actual certificates and degrees. The first group we'd like to recognize are those who have completed their GED. And sometimes I firmly believe that some of the people who have completed GEDs this during the past year have worked at least as hard as some of our AA graduates. We have a very active ABE program. And in the last three years, we've approached approximately 140 GED graduates in the villages in Betha just in the last three years.
And to make those awards, I call for one of our employees in the Betha Labe East Center. Thank you, Mr. Ageander. Good afternoon, it doesn't don't doubt. I'm honored to be part of the special cadence. First of all, on behalf of ABE staff, I'd like to congratulate our GED students.
I know most of them worked long hard to be scared of the GED diploma. Let me fill you in another GED program. A student just doesn't walk in and take the GED tests. A student must study diligently to see a high level of proficiency in five subject areas. The requirements of GED are challenging to all receptor sites on that goal. Again, my sincerely congratulations to all graduates. I also want to congratulate those students who have reached their learning goals through Betha and village centers. In which a second language student will barely speak, spoke a few words of English are now able to write and read English.
A type of student will only use two fingers and now could type at 40 to 50 words from them. A counting student improved his roots by using videotapes on the counting available at ABE center. On behalf of this and myself, I would like to thank all the students for another record-breaking year at the ABE center. Now we're going to distribute certificates to the graduates of GED. Most of these students are unable to make it here today, but I will announce their name as well.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
I would like to share with all of you some thoughts that I had in early fall for attending the institute on language and thought here at the college. These thoughts came to me during the very significant time of my life, but as a mother of four and a wife and a full-time student. I was attempting to come to something that is very dear to me and that is my education. Thank you.
As I watched the current, it reminded me of a never-ending choice I had to do around the house. Thank you for being able to let me see this beautiful world got created. In order to be successful, as a student we find it necessary to establish some personal goals and develop the personal discipline to accomplish these self-set goals.
The daily grind, long bumpy roads, loads of homework, happiness, sorrow, laughing, crying, anxiety, and the relief of completing these assignments or all experiences we are sharing common. After our last final exams are over, all of these things lead us to wonder if we haven't been run over all those. In the end, our struggle to rise out of the dirt leaves us feeling relieved, encouraged, and mostly educated. Thank you for sharing this great year with me, your friendship and ideas to much to actual experiences here at the college.
In looking back, I'm sure we find this rewarding and challenging time. I will miss you all, but I know you myself for a separate ways. I hope your future contains joy, positive growth, and may those who call you friend benefit through, and because of your personal accomplishment. I would like also to recognize the efforts about my instructors, Diane Carpenter, John Sewler, Bob Cravins, and Prairie, Teddy Van Ness, Jolie Morgan, and the faculty who have taught me much more than just academic knowledge. Because of their genuine concern and understanding, I have been able to realize and accomplish what I set out to do. Although my education at Coastal Community College ends now, I will continue for other educational challenges at other schools.
For those who remain behind, I will see you well, and don't give up. You might already have a class of kindergarten first and second in a combined classroom. They can kind of group them that way anyway. They might do the same thing and accomplish the same purpose in their classroom. Will this grade, once it's put in, will it stay there? We'll put it, and that's the reason why we call this a pilot program. We want to look at it.
We think it will work. We don't have all the answers. We've seen a number of examples of where it has been successful. There are a number of people who are questioned and say, well, if you don't do this, it won't work. We're hoping to investigate it enough to where we'll try to get around some of the problems that they've had in some previous programs. We're in constant contact with other people in reading programs and things like that to get the information. So if it works, then it'll stay in place. If it doesn't work, we want to have the option of trying something else. And we won't know until we try. How do you?
Thank you. Bye.
