I'm asking my daughter, you worked at it, no. Michael, you worked at it, no, oh good, you'll be buddy, son. Yeah, this is, that's me, mommy. Well, Arona at the time, it's still at Farris's Hall, this was after our performance there in July of 1951.
All right, twenty-six. Twenty-six, twenty-six, twenty-six. I know, I look like my father, it's no longer here. Okay, and the first, the back row is me, mommy, and Vivian Cummings and Florence Camacho.
The front line is Mikey on the left and Cilla Wong on the right. We were, that was taken for our program at Mrs. Mark's Place up in O'Polly Road, and that was for the Way the Women. No, oh, yeah, fifty-one, October, fifty-one. We did a reading of one of my plays, there are a couple of, are you right? Yeah, a couple of years ago, I see, it's like you uncle, oh, how nice.
And she, it was for Women's History Month, she let us use the stage, yeah, nice theater, nice, nice area. Yeah, it's very calming, and then she, I'm going up and down, I was in Oahu, my daughter was in Hawaii, she turned around and she said, ma, go buy the book. So we went to the Bishop Museum book shop, all out, so I went to the one on school street, the native books, and about the book, and I went, how about that, yeah, December 1st and second, oh, that was fun doing that show.
Who are the musicians in the back? It's Billy Hewlen, Kala Kawa, David, David, what's his name, oh, David, he's the one that composed, Lihua Nani, oh, he's pointed sleeves, oh, yeah, yeah, we used to wear that. And then, oh, no, this is Kala Kawa over here, on the guitar, David, David, oh, I don't have the name down.
No, we'll hear you this, 52, 52, that's right, David Kupiele, every pain, the Billy Hewlen and this is Kala Kawa, A-let, supposed to be A-let, L, you know his wife is Ili Ma, she's a famous singer too, that's my dance, my key and me, this Kala Kawa already in the back. And this was at New Malo Hotel, when we were just visiting, we wanted to listen to the
beautiful music and see the show, and then of course they call us up to dance, that was fun, then they moved to Chicago, and then that's when we came into New Malo, and then after New Malo was a different group, so my cousin was the comic dancer, yeah, that's really cute. Oh, that one, yeah, look at her, what he was just now, 52, nice smile, yeah, side. It's still at New Malo on a night, in 1952, when we went to enjoy their music and the performances of the show, and of course they saw us in the audience and they called us
to dance, July 52, July 20, 52, now this is our third unique, now this pangu pangu is where the poor Hale was too, because Mike and I had two other girls that performed at pangu pangu, I'm glad I wrote something, gee, oh pangu pangu pangu, so, this is the, okay, this was taking at the Polynesian village, which was the old pangu pangu, in July the 20th, 1952, and this was our third Halao Uniki, now that's me dancing solo, you know what
song I was doing, I was doing, oh yeah, a little one, oh yeah, we had, yeah, Mike he made me do that, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I couldn't do it, yeah, this is our third Halao show, graduation, in July of 1952, and this was held at the Polynesian village, which is the old pangu pangu, the one on the left, the gentleman on the left is Paul Connie, then the next one is Vivian Cummings, then comes Milton E, who is known as Tony,
meet me, mommy, and then Vernon Stone and Florence Camacho, and that was part of our show in the graduation, yes, no, he's Papa, this is Vernon Stone, okay, we're not sure we're seeing him, he's close to Tony, he's close to Tony, Milton, Vernon, and that's Tony, he said he's up in the beach all the time, there you go,
it's different, yeah, it's different, yeah, it's the way her hair is too, is that a spot on the photo, to that black spot, no, it's a Erie, okay, that's a Erie, yeah, but she has a cookie, he and Bill did that, let's see, see, his home in Pupuke was named Homi Pumihana,
we had our first one, that time was first got into, but in 74, and we had to out there, in fact, in fact, the Inema class had the Uniki there, yeah, in 75, yeah, at our August, 76 concert, Tony announced to Snookie that this was his last Hula performance, 76, so who is that boy, this is Vernon Stone, yeah, so whenever we went to perform, she always teamed up, Paul didn't stay with us too long, after this 52, yes, that's Tony, so this
is Vernon, Nelson, and Paul Conny, Paul Conny, we enjoyed dancing together as a team, Dr. Marley was always with either May, Klein or April, May, Klein to, the same day, maybe Vernon, somebody's Vernon and Tony are close, yeah, we'll probably do them, if he can
make it Vernon, either his mother was sick, yeah, died I think, yeah, but this supposed to be close friends, yeah, the whole group, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Yeah, yeah, the King CH so good, man, yeah, I think it's another one, did you go through thatją doesn't find that one, okay, Okay, chaos in the middle, this is the third yeah, this out there, yeah, things like that.
Yeah, and David Bray was our MC for that show. David, the son, Daddy Bray son. Yeah. But I met. Yeah, that's. Yeah. You get the two of them together on you. Yeah, I know. Yeah. That's Vernon and Twini. Thirty seconds. Nice smile. Yeah. You could have a reunion. His eyes is nice, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He still looks the same. Yeah. Only his, just like me, you know, Mike. Yeah. For anytime. What is this? Wow. This was our third full graduation at the Polynesian Village, the old Tango Pangle in July of 1952. And this is the entire group.
I see it grew larger. Yeah. It grew in number. And some of the ones that was in the first and second are still there. See if they've grown up more. So David Bray is right next to Mikey. Mikey is in a very big, this is she, the center right next to David Bray. He's the top. Yeah. See, this is the, that's she. Wow. David Bray. He sure didn't look like that when I met him. He was all skinny and. Yeah. And her still. All the time. Yeah. If somebody told me that was Jackie. Really? Yeah. Wow. Of course, Jackie doesn't, Jackie looks a little younger, but.
Seems sort of like. Yeah. I would believe that was Jackie. Although Jackie's actually older than Mikey was at that point, Mikey is 27 next to David Bray. And maybe I'm imagining Jackie younger than she really looks. Okay, that's 52, right? So we're 25, 26, 27, 28 years old. She is burning again. I don't know who that one is on the left. That's Vivian on the right. Vivian coming. Besides Vernon and Tony, who else is in there? We'll just get all the men. And if it is Maycline in there? Oh, no, Mrs. No, she doesn't come in to you later. Okay. So who else will be there from the original? That we might interview. Oh. I don't think we're going to interview anybody else yet.
No. No. So if Maycline's not there, then just get the guys. Maycline is during... See, she's in a different lineup. So I really didn't never knew her. Oh, really? No. Until... Probably when they were going to go in here. See, she only did with us in 73. Because she was not with us. That's Paul. And this is Lorraine Broad. Her husband was a policeman, so they moved to California. Oh, this is Paul. What does that say? Paul Conny. Who's that on the left? That's Florence Camacho on the left. Paul Conny and Lorraine Broad. You're left, don't you? No, you're right. Just give me a second.
Leave me a shot, okay. I think Lorraine Broad was with us at Pango Pango. When was the regular Pango Pango? With Pooha Hill. So you guys danced when it was the regular Pango Pango Club? Yeah, there. Yeah. This was our graduation time. And Pooha Hill was dancing there, too? Yeah. That's their Pango Pango regular show. Oh, it was Pooha Hill. Yeah. So he had a regular show, too, even ice. Yes. And we were part of the show, too. So all of these older Kumuhula, they were teaching, you know, really kind of traditional dancing, and I want to, and they all had shows, too. Yeah. Some of them. Yeah. I don't know. But Pooha Hill was part of, I think, he had men. And he taught, not, uh, I want to.
It was Cahiko. Yeah. So when she wanted to learn how to teach men. Yeah. And that's how she was taking it from Pooha Hill. Can you get that, I don't want that from me. Okay. Who's that right in the end there? Oh. Off-hand, I can't get that. What, can I keep picking up the cute girls? Yeah, she was. She was. No lie. I'm picking up the cute girls. I think I might be recognizing. Yeah. Yeah. You know. Yeah, you are. She's from the beginning, too. Oh, this is my sister, my kid sister, right? Yeah. Oh. Gosh, I can't remember anything. Those kids are really cute. Yeah. Now, this is, this is the whole that was dancing with me. The three of us.
Yeah. Now, she's in, uh, Wilhelmina, IU. She's Mrs. Luke now. Wilhelmina. IU. They lived in, uh, Upgullic Avenue. Uh-huh. You, uh, on a, on a, on a, um, float. Or, uh, I don't know, because it's a float. I can't remember. Because we used to dance with, uh, no, you can, you can take it off. No, because it's glued down. That's all right. Because I have to change these things anyway. I don't know what year it was. Gotta be 52. Kind of small, but. Yeah. Okay. Anytime. Brother. Okay. What was I see? It was 1952. Yeah. Okay. This was coming me a day in June 1952. And we were on the Maui float dancing for anti-Alice Namakilua. We danced for anti-Alice for about five years on the Maui float.
So it was in Maui? No. It was here. Maui, yeah. Okay. But it was for Maui float. Oh. He had a black cloth. Because sometimes, you know, with the gloss, you can see. Oh. Well, since I have the name. I do. It's a different, different girl. So it's suit up seat. This one here. I'm trying to look for her in here. So this is the same float. The same float on it is the different group dancing. Okay. We probably wouldn't sat down and did this suit up and danced. But the musicians are on the side with anti-Alice Namakilua. She had a large group of her singing for her. And I can't find that girl.
Can we read this? No. No. It's just taking the picture. Oh. Okay. This was taken in Kapilani Park for a little week. That was for a little week. That's right. No. No. No. No. No. It's just taking the picture. Oh. Anytime. For a little week, that was for a little week. A Hawaiian page called The Hula Yesterday and Today. And it was a huge stage and then we had to take pictures. So that one is Lorraine Broad. The next to her is Florence Camacho. I don't know who that one is.
The next one is Duchy. That's Nani Kapu. And that's me. And Carol Kapu is right next. I'm not sure about these two. And my sister, my kid sister, Nani, a Rona. She's still with me. Dancing. Okay. See, we're still with that kui style long, long, long white. Without her, she's going over our right shoulder down to our left hip. This is when we had that huge stage. That's a blossom skirt.
No, it's one piece. She made it two pieces. You call it green, down toxia. There's one more person at the end there. I think so, right here. I don't know who's that. Oh, I can't remember her name, but she works in Washington. Let's try different ways of dancing. But the gracious ladies, the 14 of us, the one that NTVG gave us, gave us that name as gracious ladies.
We have a sort of a frame. And with the black up here. And with the black up here.
