Democrats fared better in Cleveland County than they did across the rest of the state. In Senate District 16, Democratic incumbent John Sparks took down Republican challenger Sharon Parker, 52.6% to 47.3%. Looking at the seven state house races in the county, in District 22, Democrat West Hillier retained his seat against Alley Burgeon, 61.2% to 38.7%. District 27 saw Republican Josh Cockroft win the open seat against Democrat Chris O'Dill, amount 62.40%. In District 44, Democrat and 23-year-old O.U. student Emily Burgeon becomes the youngest member of the state house after meeting Kent Hunt, 63.3% to 36.4%. Also, Republican Aaron Stiles in a surprise takes the seat of Democrat Wallace Collins in District 45. Scott Martin keeps his seat in District 46 by soundly meeting independent Zachary Knight. Randy Terrell will serve another term after defeating Democrat Amy Corley, 60.9% to 39%. And incumbent Mike Reynolds will stay in office as well with his big win over Democrat Hollis Harper. For KGU, I'm Logan Layden.
