Episode Description
United Against Hate in-studio group discussion, in conjunction with the FBI, describes reaching out to different communities affected by hate crime, talk with them and offer support; because hate crimes are vastly under-reported, especially in the South. Promoting greater understanding of what comprises a hate crime should encourage more reporting of hate crimes. Agent Johnson explains the FBI civil rights program and defining hate crimes. The FBI is tasked with defending civil rights in the US under federal law; and in 2021 elevated hate crimes to a national threat priority. PSA: Preparing for hurricane season by watching for flooded streets and having a bag ready. PSA: Sharing locations of in-person PFLAG monthly support meetings.
