the number of communities. The announcement was made at the Meadowlands today but a ban on the water is still in effect. Short of project goal some say. One of the best ways to get the message across.
This is New Jersey's Water Crisis project crisis here in New Jersey is one problem we can't wash our hands of. Last took several hours to 10 second radio commercial recordings. The governor told he would be leaving the governor's office later this year. The recording of the announcement prices here in New Jersey is one problem we can't wash our hands of. Save it please.
Well even a superstar doesn't always get it right the first time. Many of today's high school. Or. High school students really isn't anything new but it used to be done at pool storefronts or it was a friendly game of cards in the locker room. Well now it's a lot more enticing more exotic and flash here and in a lot of ways a lot easier at casinos like the Golden Nugget just two blocks away from Atlantic City High School officials the most and the one they will concentrate on improving is the students who say they regularly smoking drinking. Drug addiction. And gambling have also been around for a long time and the young people are going to be enticed into these things and they're going to do it.
But when you get 9 percent of your minors doing it on a regular basis you have a problem. But it's not a problem where you know the great majority of the kids are going to the casinos every day or every week or something of that sort. Yourself many times. For the project. And I know the security was very I think something that has. Brought. Something about. Well right black at the right of the screen. And then after 10 minutes he
came out again and I said Good afternoon. But you did win some money. You don't report that to the Internal Revenue Service and security is pretty good. Only place where underage kids are getting surprised to learn that investigation will take place in the security people. When kids are thrown out. Back at the staff gambling counselor or hearing from a teacher the. Democratic kind of question.
How did you know which is adjacent to New York City with a 20 minute or 10 minute trip. I would guess maybe not the first time we get to see a former commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection. Saw that story. Turney defends his testimony to counter political interference in 1976 with the DP and asked if the senator had intervened on state approvals. His answer was No. Earlier in the trial a witness for
the government charged that Williams had a piece of that firm. The witness was Sandy Williams who had turned state's evidence to escape prosecution. He told the court that his one time friend the senator had intervened with state officials on behalf of today said no. But prosecutor Thomas Puccio introduced a series of memos on the aide who said he had heard that it was a political gimmick in which Harris and Williams had an interest in the commissioner's office had sent word the aide wrote that it was to be approved no matter what from the stand said that was not true. But he admitted that he himself had sent a memo to that attorney general William Highland that was July of 76 and asked that the charges be reviewed. The government has raised the bio cell issue in an attempt to discredit the senator's pray Abscam activities. But late today the defense produced still another memo this week from the attorney general's office stating that no evidence had been
found to support those charges. This is some reporting. And in Washington today attorneys for Sen.. The list of contributors to the queen is here with that story. The list of contributors to the senator's Legal Defense Fund is 20 pages long six months fundraising drive by friends. All 12000 of that has already been spent by the expenses individual contributors and political action committees PACs limited by $5000 donations and in fact the donations ran from just a few dollars to $5000 a dozen donors a thousand dollars apiece but most contributions were few hundred dollars or less. Recently Richard Case potential contributors explain aid because he did not have extensive independent means. And those who contributed the most
included the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority. That was $5000 the single largest donation and $1000 from another Authority member. Mountain industries $2500 a person. That company is pressing the Federal Communications Commission to relocate Channel 9 jersey and the firm intends to apply for that. Also kicking in a thousand dollars of Woodbridge. The attorney general and Middlesex County Democratic power noticeably absent from the Defense Fund filings were packed. Labor organizations chairman of the committee only one PAC from Atlantic City paid and that was for only $100. But as Secretary Treasurer said the rank and
file displaying the small checks. So that might explain the absence of the PAC donations. People working people the people and. The working people. A spokeswoman for the Senate Ethics Committee which is regular contributions are expected. $60000 raised so far. Just how much is that going to help pay off legal costs $100000. OK thank you. Tonight as part of our coverage of the state's gubernatorial primary election we begin a series of candidate profiles in Newark sending work. The Republican Party believes 1981 will be the year they recapture the state house and one of the hopefuls in a crowded GOP primary is Lawrence Kramer. He returned to.
A position. Of responsibility. The people are responsible. For a lot of. Power which. Frankly. They're very very frustrated.
With in an urban area. People are just very very unhappy. The campaign was already hosted a party for the Republican National Convention in Detroit. The party was part of an overall strategy to help position with Republican leaders. Among the advantages Pat Cramer enjoys is a professional campaign an effort which is well financed. Having collected more than three hundred fifty thousand dollars in private donations the crema is sensitive to criticism by a Republican. For 6 percent of them. That's a record. As a Republican
very democratic. President Reagan and his campaign organization play in the gubernatorial primary could be an important factor. The president expected to take an active role. In the crowded GOP primary. But I did by the fact that it could support the really bad in terms of announcements of major counties. Has demonstrated a real diversification of the kinds of counties that are supporting Cramer. We talk about up to say County obviously our own which is a very urban county at the same time a Salem County other on the other end of the state of a county
between the 1981 gubernatorial election involves more than just issues it's a question of in durance which candidates will be able to keep up the grueling pace of the campaign. But Pat Cramer believes he has the stamina support and political savvy to win that cry most political organization and Paterson has a well-deserved reputation for getting out the vote. And Cramer hopes to when that organization has to produce on Election Day. Because any hopes of success by the palace and they are dependent on a strong showing in urban counties like this say Aaron. Thank you Gus and we'll hear about another partisan fight when Bill Perry returns with sports. Time for sports here's Bill Perry. Thank you Karen The Cardinals beat the Mets today St. Louis played along by
5 1 the final quarter. Hendricks and Hernandez homered boxing at ICE world in toto and I Patterson's Curtis Harris 11 and one takes on 11 free from misery for the cable-TV national lightweight title let's meet her to Cyrus most people look at me they don't see a day they don't see a fighter you know they always say how do you feel you did. But I am that you know it is something that I believe that I was. Not to be. It was always a physical person I should say so. Harris has been on a cable on the cable TV tournament and now comes the big test against the winner of tonight's fight gets a $1000 bonus added to his purse that adds incentive plus the fact the winner is guaranteed a $10000 payday against a nationally ranked lightweight. Promoters are also talking about the how or when or challenging for a world title within a year or so it's a biggy tonight.
But Curtis are the first big outdoor track meet in the state is underway the rector's relays at Rutgers Stadium starting a three day run the high school's got it going today over 100 schools were competing the mile relay was a highlight of that Plainfield high school nationally ranked in the mile relay for a national outdoor best this year. They are anchored by John Marshall and you'll see John coming up next leg as he wraps it up. Plainfield won today with a time of three minutes and 17 seconds right here. John Marshall it does seem that New Jersey has really super track town and Marshall has an explanation why that's so. What hard to become a Muslim. We could be like the California.
