8 year students from around the world have an opportunity to work in another country and some foreign business. It is all made possible by one organization. I say the letters stand for the French initials of the name which translated means the International Association of students in economics and business administration. Chief purpose of the organization is to facilitate an exchange of business traineeships among its members in the 45 nations which participate misnamed come Lucan worked last year in France and the business office of a newspaper. In a moment she talks about the exchange program. Challenges in education presented by Duke University. Here with today's feature is Charles Bronson the
International Association of students and economics and business administration. I strike is no small organization. There are no chapters that some 70 American universities it had its beginning in Europe in 1948 because they took out a student at Duke University explains seven countries got together students of these countries and decided that this was something they wanted to do to help promote international business development. This crew and in 1956 the United States joined. Now it is spread to every continent of the world so that Latin America Africa and Asian countries participate and and in fact the number of exchanges major these countries is growing tremendously in the past couple of years. Now there are 45 countries involved in the program. Each country must raise traineeships and then there's an international congress
in the spring of each year at which the traineeships are exchanged on a one to one basis for each country. So the United States raises 600 jobs here. Then 600 American students will be placed placed in foreign countries. They took outlook and explains the goals of the organization to provide short term traineeships as a part of the business students education to learn about a country's economy and business. And then to return home and you know use this experience in whatever way they are going to. I think one of the things important for American business is to understand about this program is that by participating they can show foreign students future business leaders and national leaders and these these students who come to the United States are very highly qualified. They can show them that American business is not as bad as it is made out to be.
These temporary jobs are restricted to students who have studied economics or business administration. The jobs are generally high quality business traineeships for instance they might be rotational as student might work in various departments learning about what goes on in each department in the business as a whole or the student might be assigned to a special project or may just be concentrated in one department for a period of time is a short short term traineeships from 8 weeks to 18 months. Most of them are in the summer for the two month period. This international program I say offers greater opportunities to college students around the world. This is Charles prize will with challenges in education from Duke University. This program was distributed by the national educational radio network.
