We'll open the program with a few measures from Bach to Cottle in D major. In many respects as many points of
exposing it we might speak of a piece of music much the same as every composition. Not necessarily a proper composer may break into a few at any time in the same way an author piece of prose and verse program contrapuntal play are to be taken from Bach's caught the movement which you will hear first on these two motives. Now let's listen for a moment to a bit of contrapuntal conversation we
have. First the announcement of the two lives. Now in the middle voice. We have the answer to this announcement in the key of C Sharp major which is the Don. Listen for the answer. The first in the middle voice the second appearing this time in the base. In listening to our opening bit of the Takata. You may have detected a measure which did not sound at all like part of the few pattern short soft interlude like this one are characteristic of form and they're called episode. Their function is to effect a modulation of some related key in which again the voices or some of them enter the subject. Let's listen to the way our heart episode functions.
