Now when my two boys and girls to listen I love your son's wedding brings you another much fun brother. Hello boys and girls. I hope you're ready to play a listening game today. We're ready here in the studio. Are you ready in your room. Good. Without moving. Look around for something that is taller or higher than you are. Point to something that is higher than your head. Did you find something. Now look around and find something lower than your head and you find something lower than your head point to it. We each found something lower than our heads here. Good you. Good. All right. There are many things around us that are
high and there are many things that are low. Aren't there. Everything is not the same. Some things are high and some are low. Are the sounds that we hear all alike are some sounds that you hear. High are some sounds that you hear low. Let's see if we can tell high sounds when we hear them. Are you ready to listen. If you think this sound we make for you is high. Raise your hand. Did that sound how do you listen again. Was that a high sound. All right what about this one. Did that one sound high. No it didn't did it. Listen again.
Was that a high note. Are you sure. Well when you hear a sound like this. Or like this. You are pretty sure it sounds high aren't you. And when you hear a sound like this. Or like this. You are pretty sure it sounds low. Aren't you. But suppose you hear a sound like this. What would you say about that sound. Is it high or is it LOL. It's pretty hard to tell isn't it. Listen to that sound again. Now listen to the very first one we played for you.
Which one was higher. This one. Or this one. How many think the second note was higher. Raise your hand. All right. Listen again. Which was higher this one. Or this one. Where I know the same sound can be high at one time. You can sound high at one dime and lower at another time kid. Sometimes when we hear two sounds. We can tell which one is higher than the other. But if we only hear one at a time
it's pretty hard to say that high or that low. But when we hear two sound then we can tell which one is higher than the other. Can't we listen again. Here are two sounds. How many thought those two sounds were both the same. Raise your hand. How many thought one was higher than the other one. Well listen again. Did you hear one that was higher than the other one. Good. Well the same thing can happen when we hear low sound. Listen. Were those two low sound alike.
Was one higher than the other. I want to hear them again. Well those were pretty close together weren't they. But one was a little bit lower than the other one. We can even call one foot long the sound higher than the other low sound. Can't we all sound are not alike. I wonder if you would do something for me right now. Listen carefully so you will know just what to do. Will each one of you think of a high sound. And when I say go will you all make a high sound with your voice wait a minute wait a minute are you thinking about high sound. Not a loud sound or high soft sound. Are you ready. Everybody make a high soft sound
go. Did you all make the same sound. Were some of those sounds higher than others. I'll bet they were. They were all high but some were higher than others weren't they. Even high sounds are not all alike. Now let's all think of a low sound. Just think of a low sound. When I say go each of you make a low sound but make it soft. Are you ready. All right go. Oh I know some of those were low sounds. Were they all alike. Were some lower than others. All the low sounds are not alike are they. Well we've
got some chimes here in the studio where you listen to them. We'll play two of them for you. See if they sound the same when we ring them. Did they sound the same to you. Was one higher than the other one. Listen to them again. Could you hear the difference was one higher. All with lots of fun to listen to sounds are all sounds alike. I know I should say they're not. Well now we're going to make some more sounds for you. And when you hear the sounds that we're going to make they're going
to make you think that you're on a little boat on a little tug boat out in the water. It's a very early morning and it's foggy and you may be able to hear the boat motor and many sounds of boat whistles and there's a big fog horn to listen very carefully. Some of the sounds may be high some may be low. Here we go now on a boat ride. Did you hear the fog horn. Did you hear how low it was.
Could you hear any other boat. Now you can go right on listening and if you listen very carefully somewhere and some time while you're listening you may hear some birds. See if you can find any birds out on this harbor here out in the boat where you are out on the water and listen to all different kinds of bells. Now listen again. Did you feel as though you were right out there with all those boats.
Did you hear some birds too. They were way off in the distance and they were flying around. Did you hear the little motor in the boat where you were. Would you like to hear it for just another second or two. All right listen again. Do you think the foghorn the great big low ball horn was the last sound you heard. I was a little motor in the boat lower than the fog horn. Isn't it fun to listen for sounds. Oh I think so too. After you turn the radio off perhaps you could listen for high and low sounds that come into your room from the hallway or from the street or even some of the sounds that are made right there in your room couldn't you.
Or maybe some of you would like to make some high sound and some low sound and let the rest of the people in your room get high or you know listen for sounds are sound alike. Like find out a Reginae in the studios of the St. Louis Board of Education radio station. This is the end be radio network.
