A. I am.
A. You've been listening to the 13th and
Sonata number 14 in C. We have three movements that are also likely to be a combination of three unrelated movements like the Sonata number which was heard in previous broadcast. There's a lyrical tenderness and striving for melodic homogeny of the first movement in both the first movement allograft and the second movement and in simple sonata form followed by a minuet in Trio. You have just heard Haydn's 14. Where
is the Sonata you just heard was a model of simplicity and charm. The next Sonata has a certain stateliness and grandeur that would suggest its being performed in Midst elegant surroundings for an interested audience. The majestic minuet and for you the trio richly colored in the key of E minor and the brilliant sounding presto with its syncopation of the right and left hand brings to a close Haydn's early keyboards and signals in the works of the transitional period to follow. That was Haydn's. So now Urtext number 15.
In the next group of some as number 16 17 18 19 and 28. That is though some not as belonging to the transitional period in Haydn's development. One can watch most clearly in the minuet and trio movements the change towards an ever increasing intensity of musical expression and dramatic style that was so characteristic of Haydn storm and stress period and those works of the late sixties. So not a number 16. Take note of the trio section of the minuet. And also the more dramatic development of the last movement which provides a climax to the entire last movement opening figure with the 6 cadence. The movements are titled Allegro. Oh.
That was number six.
On the second program in the series the pianist and authors of Haydn. We have heard some not as numbers 11 through 16 performed and discussed by Raymond Dudley a concert artist in residence at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music for the text of numbering Mr Dudley is using the new universal Urtext edition of the Sonata was published in Vienna. The series is produced by the University of Cincinnati station WGA U.S. production and recording by Myron Bennett this is the national educational radio network.
