Let me finish Ma'am were you watching the money. Well. I must say that last night this time. We said that we would have to make many decisions when the whole of our mid afternoon when I was getting quite worried because along with the course of events this afternoon we were kind of running short on a leader. We had been looking for Mr. Williams from last evening and he said he was on his way there. But about 6:30 or 7:00 he told me from Jacksonville and I have been trying to call him and Savannah and he said I'm on my way. For the last 12 10 to 12 hours
we have had a big change in the city of St. Augustine. My young people I hope I can refer to you as my young people. We have been through many Was this summer and again you came through with flying colors. For if the power structure had been able to stifle our efforts at this time. Glory Be whatever. Ever tried to start another civil rights campaign in St. Augustine and St. John's County. For not only today I was told that instead of being ready to talk and mediate in it at this time they have gone and added additional reinforcement of a mounted Calvary for Sunday's parade in Jackson Mississippi I understand has something like an armored car or something like this with machine guns
and so forth and they're still fighting for freedom in Jackson Mississippi. Police tell him. ANA. Navarro County police will stop our efforts in San Augustine and not even call her. I had been systematically trying to prevent the state. Of racial agitator and so forth from being applied to our efforts at this time for being a marked man by a state grand jury as of December put me at an extreme disadvantage. But we have spent the last week or more trying to get some ministerial assistance from the city of St. Augustine. I don't know it's going to take another effort unless I stand corrected I think minus the ministerial
leadership at this time. But I'm happy happy to announce that we have some instructional leadership in this meeting tonight. And I'm certainly praying that it won't be the last three. We've in fact I'll be so optimistic to say that I'm saying it won't be the last. Four. It took a little crying this afternoon to tell a few that for them to fly our 6 7 8 teachers from our high school and school system at one time would be all that we would need to go back to the school board into federal court to say that we have inadequate instruction in negro schools. Please hasten your efforts to integrate the white school and I'm sure they know this down town with Mr. reckless
Pearson being a school teacher and having not lost his job with Mr. Frank pinched and over in Ocala being a school teacher and he still has a job. And with the more people we know very dear to us their names as you not Saw have not lost their jobs. There was no reason no excuse not to be part of this movement to roam free. I'd like to see a show of hands to see if we have any of our principals here at this time. That want. That WANT TO RUN RUN RUN. Run run. Run run. Run.
Run. That's right. And you know what I'm mad at this time extending additional efforts and the taste which will stop from top to bottom for Mr. Heartly should be made to realize that he is welcome and even requested to join us. But if he feels not so moved at this time we're also requesting that our now super an assistant to the superintendent come with us. Up until a year or so ago she was known as supervisor of Negro Education. But when we entered our school desegregation she became an assistant to the superintendent. Well there's no reason under the sun that they should not want to be free. And we're going to see if we can help them. Free us and help them free themselves at the same time.
I. Have taken this time because I wanted to lay the groundwork and make no mistakes because Dr. King issued a statement from. I think New York last night which was on the national news services that he was sending in the young man who is in our midst to night to prevent the violence from spreading in Jacksonville over to St. Augustine. This man really knows best. He is a trained freedom fighter of the nonviolent order. But I also add Aloha to you to me and so forth today that if you people are heating it up over there we'll see if we can make it a little hot for you. Well we can't stop that. But I want them to know that the eyes of the nation upon the nation's oldest city the eyes of the world upon the nation's oldest city. And if
they choose to make it hot in its heart of their own making. Because this movement started it always has been and I guess ever will be nonviolent. I we want you to read and Obeid by the prayer that we passed out to all of you tonight. This is the prayer we feel truly fitting fitting this Easter season. We didn't plan it this way per se but within reason it is truly apropos to be making our big surge and move for freedom in our nation's oldest city. At Easter time. Far we all know the Easter story and what happened. And if this should happen in our city it would be the will of the Almighty.
For I don't think it's the will of the Almighty for a man to be second class citizens for ever and a day. And we have waited patiently over a hundred. And as our dear fair chief of police quoted me as saying We want all white people to be slaves as we have been for at least a hundred years. Well I want to correct that record at this time and the first time I bothered to do it publicly. But historically he was incorrect we were slaves for about two hundred and forty five forty four years we have been so-called free men for a hundred years. We would like for him and the power structure to honor us and be a free man for another hundred years more or hundred thousand years. But we do not intend to be second class citizens any longer. Because before I will be a slave or a second or third class citizen
I'll be buried in my grave. When. I got out there I better hold up now because Mr. Williams will set the scene for us and that was Dr. Heymann. We have a leader in our midst. I'm submitting and throwing myself at his feet at this tire and his very wish be my command. Without further ado I give you just a Jose Williams out of the reach of the Home Office of Southern Christian Leadership Conference Center here to guide us by Dr. Martin Luther King. MR. Dr. Hayden and all you wonderful people. I bring you greetings from the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
In particular the man that we called them or was as of the 20th century the wonderful and God bless Dr. Martin Luther King. Dr. King is ALL OF US interests. Oh interested interested in seeing Augustine Florida this is a beautiful city. It's a magnificent city with a terrific history. And I'll be frank with us some time won't. How do white folks ever got to be the rule as it was they have a beautiful city dead beautiful city. And I just honestly wonder how or why they don't have the intelligence. I don't have intelligence enough to. Perpetuate this city and I want to say a few things at first the first
thing I'd like to say is that I didn't come prepared to make a speech. I didn't know that I was supposed to make a speech. But neither did Moses know that he was supposed to go back to Egypt. So that which you can feel for confronts you a good soldier will enhance. So I'm real proud that I'm mildly impressed with Dr he a merchant press that I want to say a few things before I try to make a little talk here. And one of the issues that I was really good and where I live I put it like this most times. I usually end my speaking engagements I don't bother to tell the introducer where I'm from. And I use the child to take the opportunity to explain it myself. I know most people have heard of Albany Georgia with as a little town about 75
miles south of Old been named Bainbridge and the little town of about 15 miles south of Bainbridge name out a purpose to tell you the truth I'm about trail miles south of adipose. Tissue I was not really at a New York City I missed this only six miles from the front line. I will not rooted for the Delta Chicago. I was reared in a town with black folks stood off to the sidewalk while white folks pays nothing I'm going to say that a lot of time are misconstrued. When the first thing I want to warn you this I am down here representing Dr. King Dr. King is. Oh interesting it is just and same old esteem from the oldest city in the nation. It's a pitiful imperf. pathetic little thing some of us don't realize this. When these white people that rule the city all of
these oh around 400 years and they're still so mis own in farm they're still misled. They don't have any vision of foresight of the future. But I don't say this to do it to the Caucasians that we have you with us tonight. I'm usually criticize about the things that I have to say about white folks and I no one realize. I hope not no one realized any greater than I do. That they have not been for all right thinking then Christian heart in true authentic friends right from the bounds in change of slavery would have never been broken. But there was only a few John Brown and I will let you know our all are white folks in America. Tonight we all have our
sprinkling of a few in any type of lead to this. So when I talk about white folk I'm talking about the masses of the white folks. Is just like when I talk about Negroes I'm talking about the masses of the negroes. I'm not talking about those white friends that made it possible that there could be development of abolitionists minded black men doing the days of slavery if ever negro was like Dr. Heaton that wouldn't be in a segregation the average Negro is like Dr. Haidt there wouldn't be any segregation. Now I know what you hear about him that he's power drunk. Nobody told me this I just know that he's seeking prestige. But then nobody had to tell me anything about it. So few new groups would trademark that I understand.
Somebody told me about some teachers in the house tonight. I want to congratulate you I don't know how many of these tight means you've been to but you are finally seeing the light. At school one time. And I remember the day they fired me without going to it I'm sorry so minute I'm just happen to see the young people. I'm just happy I don't happen to see one thing I look is young people at home people somehow know that I have not. I have not been able to develop the same type of desire for the people that middle aged people might. But the young people in various media see I passed an old lady just a few moments ago walking up this way. And this was the greatest reality is Holby because I have known of this for Margret better than mandatory of me could not read or not write. It does not take money no education to want to be free. I learned this when I went to college I went to college from a country town where news in. College was for me. College was hell.
Now ride to Lebanon and enroll in Morris Brown College in one of the colleges of the system there. I was Hallock disappointed I found droppers and I found damn farm liason one much more live out in the streets and I didn't find it coming and this only proves one thing to me. God endowed you with the same amount of intelligence already but you were never here. You don't find it in college you get it when you go this cold invaded that you just won't have it when you leave. I'm real pleased to meet Dr He read so much about this man he is a man that he's a novelty. I have a rude way of defining people like Dr. need not call them freaks of nature because you can find all the Denison Friday. And there will be such few on to you won't realize they exist. Now we're involved in a serious struggle and I
hope you understand this. We are. Not inside of us. We don't have the foresight to visualize you know into anything sensible amount of depth. We're not dealing with segregation friends. And I hope you realize this you are dealing with their destiny of mankind. You are dealing not with the problems of the negro. One thing I used to wish when I was a little boy. One thing I watched I lived in a big city and the other thing I wished I was a white boy. I used to see the right boys even in this new child out of progress at the lunch counters. You did one drug store that we had there said not being hotdogs and drinking Coca-Cola. And I wish so great that I was white. But I thank God Almighty my Maker my Creator my God that I have grown to the point that I matured to the point.
I'm proud to be a black man can I. It's also where my intelligence define it God you know I would at some time you know our had some terrific experience. And I don't want to talk about myself because there is only one different Jose where Uma cache is crazy. They print what precious priest said nobody bothered to print what I say but you never had the experience of talking to God like Moses did. God won't be in a jail sentence of the majority after 55 days listen to me. I've told him. I have done what you asked me to do and I don't want your job to make my family God I want you to take care my children with my wife. I've grown to believe this that God Almighty gave one to the bright man the greatest opportunity of all time. I'm not tell you something if the black man is to ever be free.
I never forget one time a guy spoke to a meeting that I only had my asshole in the right name and he said this and this this is always good to me now said this. I'm a white man and I'm a member of the Southern Christian Leadership. Conference I'm a member of the NAACP. I can get down in the gutters of degradation I get down in the dirt of it and the veterans of segregation I can fight with you but if you negroes of the river be free you must remember one thing you are going to have to free yourself because I am a white man and wherever I get tired of fighting I can I always reach up and poor and cry. Oh I'm the brains but you are right you see I can go this is when I won't say I can move to California or Chicago I can move to New York City or Miami or St. Augustine. And I can pull him away from you in this depths of degradation. But you are black I don't care where you go you in the same boat. I don't care how much
education you get you in the same boat. I don't care how much money and the first thing if the Negro is to ever be free. The Negro must free him say. We. What it. Feels me and make me feel so good. I know this. If the Negro an American to ever be free that Negro must the Negro must free him say and I know this if. If America is to remain here if America is to stand the Negro must be free. There will be no free world without a free America. You see where I'm from trying to try to get you to understand your importance and God's will. There will be no America if there is no free negro. And if you have to ever be free you must free your said there will be no free world if there is no free America.
You heard there was sorrow about dark doubt he has the whole world in the same then black people of this nation has a whole world in their hands. If you can free America she would free the world. Yes I am part of the history you know I did it with the problems of the black me you were dealing with the problems of mankind all over this earth. Now I want to talk about just about two subjects one subject is about the big lie. Now I want to say this. I didn't come to St. Augustine to make friends. I came here to tell the truth. I'm not looking for a honorarium. I'm not looking for a family back home I got that perfect talking. I didn't come down so some of these white people have go back and get me a grant from the Marshall Field's foundation.
God knows I just want to be free and I tell you out there and I want to tell you as I walked. For $9000 a year job which are demonstrated ways some of the boss told me in the supervisor we call him boss and he said I was a set. This analysis doesn't let me tell you just one thing for you start OK. MR I intend to be free. Now if that's the joke. Against my freedom you take the job right then does I'm go take the freedom. I'm going to have. I never forget I start to tell it to teach at our school one time. And out of principle either thing that both miss a bed. That would are right and this is a smaller town Douglas Georgia. I had a $200 but you and I was supposed to teach physics and biology and chemistry Lou $200 a year but. The threat of us teaching shop he had a $4000 a year butch. So I don't a principal This can't be
true. I said I'm not going to teach chemistry and physics and biology would have $200 bucks. I will teach Ju sons but I'm here to teach chemistry and biology and physics is another mislead like boys and girls. So you get it out of the superintendent's office and super tender begin to tell me I know you're just out of college and. To make a long story short it was this that you see we give you a $200 voice because you are teaching potential doctors and potential role as a potential suspect and they get this man a $5000 budget because he is teaching potential Cobb this potential Labor's potential Brigley he just came out and told me honestly said I would not want to tell you something he said negroes are not just ready to become lawyers and doctors and scientists. If we teach them out of Hamburg how to sell and how to meet all the or get the best jobs when they finish house to know when to go into the field. And I remember Devon a super 10 with this and not going to relate if I was alone and I had a wife in college. As a man attacked this a
white man I'm not sure ever do. A very good thing that I knew was wrong to keep a job. Hope. I got. Fired. Again by. Seattle. Good for. You. I got far but I didn't mind getting fired because I was fired from our company in Germany. Because there was no knowing that first. Team but boys were attacked by German snipers and only one meal. So I had to be sent back to America as a cripple put a bullet through my arm. All spun so I didn't mind being fired just one the first time I'd been fired. I believe no company in Germany because I became Is that so our little. Patient. Now here's a thing I'm saying here that one thing here is me about the black race and that we take on and I had a homeless lady
explain it to me. We see the new take on all of it evolve of the white male. And Norm truly do. Your job and not these liberal phrases I'm saying Don't I know you're not raising your say at all over negroes in Jacksonville REZO let's say and that NBC and CBS say every state don't know always some in Savannah Georgia. They don't rely on Birmingham I have been to Georgia. And I want you to understand this. I don't care where you go if you're black white people try to trap for you. I don't care whether Chicago the biggest sounds and ghettos the biggest exploration of human dignity is in Chicago or New York City. Don't you think because you're a New Orleans you're going to Detroit. Are you going to New York or somewhere. This is a universal problem in England it's still the same way.
I know there are some veterans in this housing the German girl store we hate the thought we can't. Understand. This. This is a universal problem. This is a universal problem. You realize I don't feel right now somebody somebody in me does but. I feel like there's one group that's one group. And I say this and I don't know whether there's a minister in the house. Or just the day we raise we keep our heritage religiously the negro preacher has the power structure of the Negro community. But you. Can't. You tell me. Oh man never call me a coward. Yeah. He.
Has never told a God even when you go there and here is how I want you to submit your body. Born without the joy of our home we're not even ready. And I want you to go back there and got some nips them and what to say to me are there are even Tom Brady. I don't have nothing but mystic out that unmarried. Type of military. Why do you want to send me back down the ark and even tell police where you born educated people. Now. When I said you go what are you even sent a mouthpiece. Yes I used to wish. You good care of your breeches I want to say and I want to say this is all over the English. It seems like to me one of the curses. And.
The other thing you know. YOU ARE WE interface. I'm your dad don't preach to me about that. And the less you are willing to face me this brutality don't tell me nothing but. We just get out. They should not be preaching nothing. About. Hebrew boys on this film and just doing good. In the fall for it. Don't tell me about Parliament soundless preacher if you yourself. We've got to stop being so mean you're on a Sunday morning when. We've got this stuff and I want you to understand mean you're telling us. Because I never heard. I'm in Savannah Georgia close only. Offer you.
Something. I'll tell you the preachers Gary never told no cause we don't need. More than they are we want. Tell me Paul and Solomon have no church to pre-storm just own up to stop being lenient when you come actually tell me what these preachers got to be afraid of. Going to. Their given that we don't know nothing about that nearly measure up to that. All of us put into. Action prayed every. Day. I want you to understand this right. I want you to understand this is somebody. I want to say this for. I want to save this for. The white man has one weapon.
He has one weapon that will assure him victory. God knows I've been afraid of white life the system told me this that is. A black to stay back right then is just as good as the white kids. Got all. Right. Door below that are bright. White. Let me tell you something friends and I want to understand this. The White. Only. And only hands one weapon that can assure him victory. And that's right. That I don't care. Don't you understand this I'll tell responses provoked problems I don't care whether it's violence and retaliation. I call myself a Christian. You know one thing we all know it was a GM I read the Book of Moses over and over you know or you know read the wire for Jesus Christ and see if nobody can tell me what I am a miracle Jesus performed all the brazen folks
from. Sick people have been said for 20 years and here are the problems for you. Turning Waldo was. 3000 people just a few rows up. Don't nobody tell me Jesus could no more little moment. Right will but he was a man of God that was willing to show you the cross all of which are Mao wanted to be nailed to the handle nailed to the feet with it to bring it up all right. We can fight back. You may not agree with their fight. Some of us would take the money. I'm sorry I have one life to give you for the freedom of mine you can fight back. This is what they hope to provoke you into this is that only because we are right and Jesus was right. You're wrong you are right.
No the Jews were right. Jesus Christ was right. They got one thing that can cause you not to remain in slavery. Generations unborn. And this is what I like about this fight. I think about babies that have not even think about mothers that are even married. I'm gambling with the future. I want you to understand this. I want you to understand this. They don't normally operate in that spot. Some doctors. But Jesus does nothing compared to Jesus Christ. Martin Luther gave me God did not move again you're not the only begotten Son of God. Some of us think that in some time we get a little confused God knows I used to march in the 60s all the blood. And there was one thing I never got to say tonight. Somebody made the only thing I could probably sure phrase that I will leave the
line I leave the world tonight now you know I love her because I I just want to be free with his guards We'll look at bullet missed me and catch you. This is still God's way is we cannot fight back. You see Jesus Christ Himself was known by. You see nonviolence meaning into our society together mean a revolution if you are in nonviolence Nino to liberate. You know out of the whole struggles include magazine because there was one scene I will never forget one day I was busy brother Georgie. And this is one thing a white man kid on the stage is how these Negroes can look how these negroes are willing to forget the past. And she counted. I never get to see what their form of the king and the Everest ticket this white man worked up there to hear that all the strip in his muffin or not it's her favorite brand of pulling himself up from the ground in this world last time he stood up this white man if I'm a kid in this market
and got almost up again to kick dad now when is the about three or four. Every last three or four of my piece that it was bleeding from the mouth and nose in the 40s and obviously you are still in my head want me to start running down the street. He didn't know what. To do. We can't fight back. We can't fight back. Sometime and I'll tell you some I explain nonviolence like this a number I was in the home playing during the same rights for a non-bias like this I don't care how sorry our dog I don't care how sorry our cat you. Are sir. They are sorry for sheepish. If you back him up in a coal mine started putting on him their fight that. I'm saying this. It does not take intelligence to fight back. I don't care how economic You are right merely as an arrow as a number you know I don't care how ignorant inform your flight that.
It takes intelligence to tell me I. Am my brother's keeper. I know some of you don't know by some I mean I go by that you don't have to buy the voiceover friends God knows if we start fighting this is all these people that are concerned I am concerned about the system. I've been highly criticized because US Abraham Lincoln never intended to free to block me. I don't think in God rested there now live this man I don't think. John Kerry would ever intended to free up like me. But I think these people understand that the pressure from the our press was so great it was done like in the place where you have up to a brace when it hit it. It is going to have to give service or have to break. They did not have the system broke broke so people here only can change from run off. He took us out of the huts. We've never been free.
Negroes are still slave and it was to be a new type of slavery and. It's gone like a dog or the analogy I usually use is come like a dog you take it. Take a dog and you raise this storm from a little pup and his dog nor to love you you get and would have the house to kick him out of the door and soon as you open the door let them in there to go back in. This is the way I make rules have been taught by a system where we have no Namdar. Didn't she. We're not young and fair the pro-slavery we are not limited to slavery and this is why they're preachers or rather educated negroes are afraid to come forward in mental slavery. You see you must understand this is for the educated people. This is going to go with the money. No man is freedom to labor ministry. I don't care how much money a doctor I hate no quad damn tyrant is just another nigga. I just don't want to you know what they were about our movie and we have a terrific Lumina on the people
in St. Augustine. You have a terrific movie. But there's one thing worrying me. You take the movement all the movements all over the world with dollars I'm not classifying them whether they are communists or whether they are Christian or whether they are Jewish or whether they are true. You missed the train minds that full force the movie you see that in America stand for the negro it's their. Own educated negro it's still me. Mr. Butler that is full from the movie. There's a few doctor needs in this movie that we don't have a Dennis in Savannah Georgia or whatever stepfather tell no white folks I want to be free. We don't have it dumped in Savannah Georgia but ever stepped on a tear or white me. You know what I had a doctor to tell me I never forget this. Start them up takes commission in Savannah and we stop in about the segregated lines where Negroes have to go up when whites go up a different one of them to declare your taxes to pay white folks sorry we call them a separate minus Negro doctor told me said Well I don't think Mr. Johnson is so
bad. So Mr. Johnson I don't ever get in a segregated line when I go down there Mrs. Johnson take me around in his office in this adjustment center secretary and she bring the book as a doctor you ever thought that the woman should leave in your line maybe your mother. Jeff I think the demand of the for you would not have been your father. I don't know Mr. Johnson do nothing for me he's not going to have that up lightly. I just hope one playing enough a seed in the young people I see to the young people I see even some of the old people. Somehow someway I understand that the difference in my people understand it I take it one day out from Dear white people I remember one time when I was waiting tables I was in college. And I couldn't understand one thing. Why some negroes who could go out and make a smile at the white people it almost bothered kissing they get picked on the white children of the chief and sued that same Negro got old I met wall he spit on a stick. This is just how much hate he had in years
off. But you know what I don't manage your business. We were not able to get people all the people to love who we love who we love. Certainly if we had that we could expect love in return. We gotta love our enemy. These white people in a pitiful sheeple say overseen flaunting what the oldest city in America one of the most beautiful cities in this nation and they are going to destroy simply because they feel that our plight. You know our greatest point in Iraq that is for full of light moves isn't done of white man's heavenly bright lives here. Here we don't talk about Marco Polo went to Africa to commit the world's greatest say to take a man who was born to be free and bring him down to slavery you know while negroes are brought to this country. You were brought here for cheap labor. You have I want to rub his nose. Ships landed in America would like people that they would have work almost free. And why people still look upon you like this. They expect Negros to do their dirty work and then
wash their dishes you know cook their food in mid-air barely even raise that child because Dr. Hayden Stoffel to college he cannot go downtown. And several heads count as they are stupid and buy him step a hotdog and a cocoa with his never had opportunity to raise white children. Please I hope that one venue will understand we have a charge before us and we are expected to freeze this year. Some people say you know what you're going to say this and this is why I'm in St. Augustine tonight is out of my league and my friend I went to Birmingham and I came back to obey. I happen to know this on every negro is free. No negro is free not a government. It's Intel has every Lego in this house. Now I will tell you about if you like me that would be no more segregation in America. Negroes can break this mess up tomorrow. We can stop white folks from just having with our future today you can
get these negroes just two thirds of the world on time to meet us downtown to marvel to deliver mail. Now its all of its just oh man. The reasonable segregation. Give us freedom or give us that. Warm intelligent George you preached about all this Brooke for you know blood flow flow in the streets these white people never guard even you know what God gave them and what they possess. Are you an hour or 10 of people tell them outside several ago how much trouble the negro course if you want to see some trouble you start having the white man you can read here. You start getting this right near you can you wait here or your children have to go to you start giving a white man special treatment and you will see some violence UMC nothing here and you can holler leader negroes who are the funny who will not say this. I feel I am good as in a White me when I do fear is your buddies in the white man why aren't you ready to die for your freedom. I'm old enough you know we were kids when I ask you about the older he gets. I don't hold it against him they're
talking about this Mrs. Merrett I know this isn't true. Come on all Martin Luther King is doing this trying to get the system when white with. One who got the system where white men to cheers come up with. I ask your friends if I don't see I ask you to support off the heat yet I don't want to. Go to same thing is going on you never seem to come tell you said before that Dr Hayden came here we had race relationship always and there will always be good race relationship. As known as you let our white men treat you like you are a nigger and you treat him like he is a negro yellow race religion reminds me of this when my name is about a perv Devaney about off. Well you know we have good race relationships in this town for JASA wait a minute wait just a minute. I don't know about all of us you know a chill conversation or money out. Suppose a man put a
construction area and he sold his commodities real hot because there's no other place. The found in a person rather go to his confectionary AC and pay five cents or ten cents more per can a pub off. Per pass. But after a while the put up with those long supermarkets across the street where you could buy food as food should be sold and you walk a newsman confectionery tell you Haynes riband in this town now. We did alright for that big supermarket start moving over here It's also cheap. No we didn't Mr you did alright. You're right man you were and we have never done all right. The manual is about this race relationship I tell these negro's government Mr So-and-so is a fine i made as I do you would you do what you call your wife we call my wife Nelly call me next time you see why you call his wife me. Ho. Ho. You. Always talk about this right. Many. Keeping up the muscle.
Can't tell you what you do if you find out if you are such a good white man one day you don't call here and you go way out is also not going to affect you enjoy it inside with your head on asking for your grace a world of grace and peace. You will find out how good these people are. The group must know and I want to say this about registration and voting and the one thing I can augment with C.T. Vivian and of Beverly and all the families is this. Now he claims I was all you were doing is an evil to the already established. I disagree. They take a city like Albany Georgia. Nobody has suffered in the form of an old negroes in old and Albany is just a segregated today as it was 50 years ago. I'm saying this because I don't need goes to get the impression that I don't want you to become one of these people that got a demonstration audience. Now you take cities like Savannah Georgia cities like Miami Florida cities like Atlanta Nashville Tennessee negroes had the necessary political privilege. Now I don't know somebody may disappear if your man is not a bad man. Herman tell me from
George is not a bad name. He's been from Mississippi is not a bad name but they have a system that they are perpetuating that the nightmare of the negro the right to vote. This is what they are. Last year we had I wanted we had 200 where our hundred and seventy five thousand negroes registered in Georgia. When we got to London and 25000 missing there's not a bigger demagogue in America in the room into which you know what a normal family we have to and without as Negro Reds in Georgia he called Atlanta Georgia we got a negro sent out a man a negro had never been with woman tell me just do what he told me Roy invited Leroy and Miss Johnson Levi Johnson and Mrs. Johnson Donna Lovejoy GA. They would have been terrified. Go ahead dear your husband Hamish tape our dinner table with him and all the little children at home. Problem for.
Me. I tell you this white people downtown L.A. in Savannah. Their SOP in gravy the young Tom preacher and they go sup Annette grape Im going to treat us all like their big tree until we get our sales reps you know I don't tell people no more get yourself registered to vote because you have completed a Christian responsibility. You haven't completed your Christian responsibility until you get every negro humanly possible register vote. I told a man Savannah Georgia where he had been given just comes on the day where I wanted him across. Our don't know many mo Coleman are made of our Margo I don't or god you better make a place for me somewhere leader told Brazier 45 I'm 38 now. I intend to be day I intend to be free. When I meet 45. I'm not grown up his wife or just I with my freedom. Oh mama. We will give a new career some problems and you've got to stop the pacifier from girl.
I ever met a man so the majority want to marry this talk about the governor's race in his one thing out Dr He didn't understand I hope you understand I don't know whether you just can't be nice but so friendly with the white folks downtown and be a real negro You just can't be both so friendly with those people down to those people intention is to perpetuate a system that would keep Negroes and labor position. They don't tend to have a negro clerks in the banks down jobs they don't tend to have negroes in their. Office make it out application. They really didn't have negroes downtown no stores 7 new coal that you have to viability and my motto is this. You don't need no boy you need to educate the Negro people to grow corn to store and spend when I'm gone. Why he cannot sail is stupid. He walks and they stop and spend. Where liberal quotes are not certain he's stupid. I want to tell you about we had this conversation with the mad Savannah Georgia. These
don't upset and we've gotten really in the Duke me he'd made a fool out of media got his big ole kicked out of town in a white folks down there could not make a connection comes from you know the corms fallen to push him up an apology home with a dog where he sure ain't going to come. To him but you liberal. Enough I woke up. You went to Atlanta and doing a good news election you told nowhere but the group their money goes here I've got the money. And I woke up after I heard the mayor maybe I'll call him and he came out. Now one thing I want to get you straight away. Ari you wanted. I'm not sure. This is just about June 1st as in a few days a restart demonstration this time around. You know Stan I'm not sure that the whole of the UK do this we've been too close to free as the air. Have you brought me a application from the German overtop close up. Have you tried to see like it how's it out there in Sun Valley.
We're not friends Mr Man I'm going to go across to try can you cut me a big cake downtown and feed me Crow Now tell me of this Mr. Mayor I want you to open that door your god and away free of politics behind the green door and if you don't open a window we can get enough votes a vote of and we are going to kick the door for his years. We're coming near freezing. There's nothing any more important out of all what Dr. King is doing. There's nothing more important than the richest interval. This is what these white people really understand. I didn't know this you'll like that involving a politician the other night I'm a politician I want to be a professional politician. How much ground those people downtown how they are wrong for this one thing the statement about the system I used to say that I used to say I will somebody else. I kind of felt like a friend in the civil service. What go ahead you can jump up and said if you were white people got because this is not what we will. I don't know I have a thousand or a million dollars in my pocket in my bank account when there are
thousands of but lean in with me when there are files in the white women going home every day. This is not what I was a woman I don't know about these white people get when they are young children 4 and 5 years old and have not seen a bracer mill for months this is not what I want friends I want in this land of plenty. Everybody will have a change because they know why people out there will get their hair at this meet downtown. If only white men came down their riches in the pockets of a close ups and I never will forget this is one of the greatest inspiration is one of the greatest things in our life. When I hail Savannah Georgia in the problem are here not the mayor not the police I am the cause. Just a slip of the term I would have called the greatest race right this country ever know those we had at least three thousand negroes and I don't think they was very Nanda. These white people had all the brass are talking and my speech was the most white people know you all of them are going to be just like you don't know how they're politicians you
don't know how the white folks with the money has devalued the negro nor white people in all of the people explore all of this as an idea. They come on and you go to the general what are pro that's one of those six truckloads of it and I say when you walk in the door they're going to put you in jail. This is true. We need our good wife for him. We need the twins that's what we have to live there even all over the Mississippi I was in Mississippi a few days ago and you can't explain it. There's no words can convey to you how negroes are being treated in Mississippi. No television screen can show it to me. There's no newspaper in Georgia I don't believe I'll tell you this I don't believe the negroes in Mississippi now are being treated no worse than a sleeze were treated in Friday before the days of Abraham Lincoln. If you ever see negroes explode if you ever see them beaten down wearily in an Iris looked into the face of these people outside the spray was invisible about today's arrival just they had me around showing me the city and Rees parked in a car across the street
I saw grown white man about my age when I was still would go about and there's a little negro boy said normal school about 25 years ago and this white man hit him in the head just as hard as he could when it was two of 11 of negro boy got away. So we finally got a negro boy in the car and caramel Crosstown. Listen I know this is a story all Negro community. This may not have been in a grocery and we asked the white a white meat hit you. He said we was inside asked trying to get some bubble gum out of machine I had the money in my thing and he told me you niggas lame niggas get outta here. This is going to hurt me and I went outside waiting for someone to pick them up to go out to our camp to carry our golf course and this white man just didn't go far enough for him. He just ran outside and he told me here that this is not the day to look involved. Fred this is not the type on looking that ever bored you and I often tell white people this. Dr. Drew I hope you know Dr. Drew I'm saying not that he didn't know about it.
There would not be a Jose William and many other negroes and many other white people would have been there to be had there not been for a black man by the name of Dr. Drew. He started the bloodline. But so when I got wounded on the battlefields of Germany I was able to have blood in many of the bright boys and my black boys and girls of mine if they handed the tutti there may not be don't care it's the heart diseases that are killing thousands of people every year. Some negro might hear from the queue. Now I'm telling you that you finish your responsibility and my responsibility I ask you we must demonstrate but I ask you to register and vote. Now I don't know how I just hope I just wonder how many people will go with us tomorrow. How many will go to Tallahassee. I went to Jacksonville and you need to go. I'm not to Jacksonville but I went to Mississippi. These are my black sisters and brothers. These are children of their own. If we claim to be a Christian and God spent his whole life making things better that every man and woman would have Jesus Christ in
his whole life making it possible that every man and woman would have I disagree. After tonight and this was the life of Jesus you can't read anywhere in the Bible the way you profess and I just want to questions about this. I never will forget one of African place in you know what I have lost because he said this he said this missionary was in Africa teaching Christian. And after this Hindu and Northern African religion after this Hindu had read God's Holy Bible in years said one thing if you show me ONE Christian I would become a Christian. Now you show me one person when they're following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ tonight. One person is willing to die for you know for what's right as Jesus died for what's right for us and we profess to be questions this is one of the big lies that we live in this is one of the great things of America. Every Sunday morning I think of how many thousands and millions of people every Sunday morning in churches I think of a missionary and someone who went to Africa. All of this money they spent in Africa teaching about the life of Jesus Christ and this missionary this woman was a member
of a church that would not let a bright man come into this church and get on his knees and say I have a father there she's oh no way an Africa teacher the life of Jesus Christ. Friends we're not they are rather he'd probably be here for critical lation. I know for myself and I don't tell no lie but after I think about I got a big picture of my house without the latest picture. Only speech is this your own ritual of talking to the master. Yes the father what have I to do to have a home with you. I haven't cheated I haven't still in the midst of all of this to sell all of your way all of you will go down your amorous and leave in a spirit of whom the poor average of this power in the world can we call ourselves Christians when we live in a way which would compensate for our kids. How can we call ourselves Christian we go to bed every night without belly stuffed with food like our biggest night is going to be when there are thousands of people there pretty little home.
How can we call ourselves Christian for you. I know of our standard Christian noumena representative Jesus Christ and I know if I stood up in front of a mirror and I honestly say I am the representative here of Jesus Christ what a horrible world this would be. If I haven't said anything to you tonight I hope I understand this. What ever come to hey I'm looking for is No not about my grandfather. Don't be afraid. Whatever you do decide what side you hold Not if you have no right side not free and I'm asking you this. Go to Tallahassee. Let the world know if you are dissatisfied with the way the mic grows on trees down here in our review traduced me surely not leave this for one of the greatest things he's ever done. Six months six months into your favor of freedom of my Winchell you are never going to understand this. I understand that medicine ever was dry for me.
Those white people didn't shoot live as ever he was mega service. They shot him in the back because there was a black man that wanted to be free. Wow so want to be free. On the same Harley shop. I mean excuse I don't want to discuss the problem the doctor said Augustine is a great city. Don't let these white people take a form they will only stand so much published. Here on the stand so much and this is why our President Johnson I'm not for so little Prez I'll never been so little because I'm just tired of these folks jiving with my free without owing him from a job no monarchy or whether stole or just in the moment just one more step down in Washington come to St. Augustine and limit the plantation to some segregationist far as I'm concerned he just says there is a war I don't want I'm just not freedom along. Something I always have against President Eisenhower. Every time he had to go south he
came to Augustus George and whatever place on God's earth is in the most segregated hour just majority. How can this man tell me he's interested. How can this man tell me he's in for. How can this man tell me believing their father would have gotten a better little maid what he's sleeping in house. Dave was that a bright man regardless of his status in life. Refused is one thing I have against Arsenal and I don't just come here jiving with me I want my freedom. Seven year old stuff about. The declaration on poverty. Of the negro started every day. There are white folk but I'll tell you Percentage wise other will forget the lead again and I think Colby would say there are few more tell you sort of true. This is when I found out that I was aware you was not a true Christian. Lord knows what I seen in Jena was a 110 degrees down the other side Bettison be my food my sleep I read the Bible all day are pretty rotten bits myself that I was a Christian I was a farmer price. But I'll tell you when I found out
that hard line this lady told me what satellite she said Mr. William to tell me you hit me. This is a woman that the husband had walked off an e-mail. I don't have nothing to do with why you left. You know Jesus Christ and asked the man down there sick. He has healed a new tone and now you get your bad and well but this lady said Listen were you not that moment you really we've been evicted all the sand left to do this without meat which is why negroes that direction but I don't want to have the right to talk all right are not protected that you don't understand one of the goals on this network but we are your worship nothing we've ever been in a life without him you may not believe this but he has family in the last five years. We make less money as a race of people when we meet five years ago. Why. Because the records are always the last one hot and the first one for. Every kind of machine comes in a plant. Who were the first person to get five is the right name. Dr. White me. We're in
worse shape than we were five years ago and this is why we kept a registered voter see that laws are put on are not it goes right for this morning all we have election is a reformatory commitment. Not. To kill people or terrorists Aliyev in their pride and dignity. This lady came ashore till I found out this is the lady heard me she had been evicted this woman had lunch or so I told the welfare department Well they will cross the same afternoon we we're close. I call the Salvation Army will offer the mage's out there's nothing we can do for them not cola Tchiowa Family Welfare said. We are closed today. This woman here this was a cold day God knows it was a cold night chill but this woman had been put out the house. So I did call a poor idea where I was able rather to get a policeman to go out of the cars all these children except one was on the age of 17. He was
able to arrest the children as human has and take them out to their offer to put on his lady she told me Monday morning in the ME that not big Christian home. Colmar made more contacts and out of the way or fairly to get out they only got a $50 and got in the house door status 8 shared trailer dollars. Arcola Salvation Army got a $10 ticket for food. Me would not Christian say living on the town or tell the lie about it. Because I once was food. You say Watts was blind but now I see. I once was gonna be a Windows player big houses. I bought one of those pretty cars I was trying to play wife a job with that money I got to stick it out. Rode this lady's house and she would not want to swim was 18. Only when I was 18 and I knocked on the door and you know I know I've got five children around which are ruthless go in my house. I don't hear Sam. She was in an upstairs apartment so I took it suited not going to do when I open the door
and I looked up at the top of the stair steps. More of a reason to child here in the past merely been too easy and too willing to say on. I don't know whether you know what I've seen from when we were mad at someone really hand you where you had to give up your holiday off and here a few weeks ago or even a couple of months ago when I was about to say it on. But I don't think you're here to say part of you need more cause we had some good brothers and some good sisters to hear I'll. Say Don't give up here. Without further to do. We're going to hear now is the present so I want to focus a lot on him or he was doing this to see him.
