Episode Description
A portrait of Kannapolis, North Carolina, a company-owned town of 35,000 and home of Cannon Mills Corporation, a textile company known for manufacturing bath towels. Some workers affectionately refer to owner Charlie Cannon as Uncle Charlie for his generosity in providing free or low-cost services and housing to residents of Kannapolis but Ralph Nader argues that dominant companies in a town owe a responsibility to the community that will provide a moral content to its profits.
Series Description
The Nader Report is a series of eight half-hour investigations into the causes and effects of deceptive advertising, water and air pollution, pesticides, food additives, and the unhealthy relationship between industry and federal regulatory agencies. The host is Ralph Nader.
