From Cincinnati we present the last program in a series of six by the LA Sal string quartet the series is produced by WG U.S. the University of Cincinnati station and the programs are made possible by contributions from the friends of WGA U.S. law Sal quartet is now in its 13th year of residence at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. The quartet members are Walter Levine and Henry Meyer violins. Peter Kennett Servi Aula and Jacques Kirsteen cello. Later in the program we're to hear the quintet for piano and string quartet by Schumann with guest pianist James Levine. Schoenberg's Third Quartet was composed in 1927 and dedicated to Elizabeth Sprague who commissioned so much chamber music by bar talk Schoenberg. They burned and many other composers of our time. The Third Quartet was first performed in Vienna by the curlies quartet in one thousand twenty seven in the same year in which it had been
completed. The work no longer employs the extreme length of the first quartet 45 minutes or the unusual addition of a voice as in the second quartet. As a matter of fact this quartet follows the formal model of the classical quartet for separate movements complete with the traditional Rondo finale. The languages quickly 12 tone the first quartet to be written by Schoenberg in the new video. The four movements are what are Auto da Joe Internet so I'll go to morrow. And Rondo Morato. The quartet number three Opus 30 by Schoenberg is played by the LA Sal string quartet. I am.
