Series Description
"ITT's Salute to The Arts is heard weekly on WQXR AM & FM. The purpose of the series is to pay tribute to a major cultural organization, such as The Metropolitan Opera or the Boston Symphony, and to individuals who have made significant contributions to the arts - people such as Avery Fisher, Lawrence Wien and Alice Tully. "The tribute to The Joffery Ballet is an attempt through music and interviews to paint a picture of The Joffery Ballet, its work and activities. Ms. LeBell's guest was Gerald Arpino, Artistic Director and Choreographer of The Joffery. Ms. LeBell interwove the music and discussion to present a seamless image of The Joffrey in all its glory. "We are entering this program from the ITT Salute to The Arts series because we feel that it represents the kind of creative programming, production and entertainment that uplift our particular audience, an audience that is well-read, interested in the arts and especially well-versed in fine music."--1991 Peabody Awards entry form.
