Description
Episode Description
"As a public service in regard to the breakup of the Bell system -- arguably the biggest business story of the past several years -- we arranged for interviews with the chief executive officers of all seven Bell spinoff companies and with top officials involved in the new, smaller AT&T. Each program also contained elements -- not shown on this tape -- tracking companies' stocks on a daily basis; the series itself was timed to begin when the companies' stocks began trading as when-issued stock (November 21, 1983). Each of the nine parts is an interview with a top executive in this order: Bell Atlanta; US West; Pacific Telesis; Nynex; BellSouth; Ameritech; Southwestern Bell; AT&T; AT&T Communications. To provide the best public service, similar questions are asked of each interview subject involving investment potential of each company, each firm's special advantages and problems, and each company's plans to handle the highly competitive information-systems marketplace."--1983 Peabody Awards entry form.
