"WQXR FM & AM broadcasted a series of 90-second Presidential election commentaries featuring noted columnists of The New York Times. The series, called THE NEW YORK TIMES ON ELECTION '88, aired throughout the day from October 6, 1988 through November 9, 1988. It was a FIRST for WQXR and featured columnists A.M. Rosenthal, Russell Baker, Anthony Lewis, Tom Wicker and Flora Lewis. The columnists provided political analysis, historical perspective, campaign vignettes and humorous asides about the elections. Warren Bodow, president of WQXR, said: 'We are proud to offer a series that will share the insights of these [prize-winning] columnists with our listeners. The programs will provide important perspectives on the elections.'"--1988 Peabody Awards entry form.
