Episode Description
Program 1 of North of Namaskeag is such a 'white paper.' It presents a wide ranging scope of opinion on the petition of the Atlantic Canning Company to locate in the community. The television news special is being broadcast coincident with the meeting of the Freeboro Chamber of Commerce, whose membership is convening on November 4 to decide their official position to present to the November 11 meeting of the Town Council. Several Chamber members are interviewed in the course of the program which also sample opinion from man-on-the-street interviews and selected citizens from the community. The 'news special' concludes as the Chamber of Commerce meeting begins and the doors swing shut on the television cameras.
Series Description
"North of the Namaskeag. This project is a television simulation, constructed to involve the viewer in making a decision after viewing televised facts. The viewer then communicates his decision to the producers, who then build the next television unit on the viewer' collective decision. Thus, in this TV simulation, the viewer input determined the outcome of each program.
