Program Description
"The series' objective was to fill the need, created by the Detroit newspaper strike, for in-depth, local news interpretation and analysis. With an [anchorman coordinating], out-of-work newspaper reporters presented the news in conjunction with film, photographs, and visuals. Programs included all regular newspaper features from important political happenings to readings of the comics. "Material accompanying this entry: Comments from viewers of Television City Room, Letter from the Detroit Educational Television Foundation to the Ford Foundation containing the purpose and the proposed content of Television City Room, Letter from Dr. James B. Tintera to Dr. S. K. Bergsma attesting to the value of the series. A video tape is being sent under separate cover."-- 1968 Peabody Awards entry form.
