Series Description
"ASSIGNMENT: THE WORLD is a 15 minutes weekly new program for 4th-6th graders. It covers world and national events while explaining why these events are important. The immediacy of the series is a key element with scripts often being rewritten fifteen minutes before taping. The 11/12 1981 program submitted contain LEAD STORY. Proposed Health Care Cuts.THIS WEEK IN WORLD HISTORY. Brief stories describing events that took place during week in history.ADDITIONAL NEWS. Stories covering the week's events, [i.e.], Middle East Tension, Presidential Press Secretary, Soviet Parade.POP QUIZZES. Three quick multiple choice questions assure students' involvement and keep tem alert.CLUES IN THE NEWS ANSWERS. Three clues from the previous week are answered.FEATURE. A trip to a candy maker, shot on location.ISSUE. Video games. Each week a new public interest issue is selected to motivate class discussion. Students are encouraged to send in their opinions of this issue.MAILBAG. A look at the student response to the issue aired 2 weeks ago.CLUES IN THE NEWS. Three new clues on events that will be newsworthy the following week are presented.
