Program Description
"Berlin Calling is an hour-long documentary that chronicles the lives [of] American who broadcast Nazi propaganda from Europe during the second World War. These 'radio warriors' used short-wave broadcasts to promote and [sic] the Nazi genocide and glorify the Fuhrer. "Our documentary includes recordings of the actual propaganda broadcast period music, sound effects and interviews with both scholars and people who knew some of the most notorious of the radio propagandists. It is based on the book, Berlin Calling, by Dr. John Carver Edwards. "Producer David Bryant spent a year painstakingly working out the [sic] of this piece. He traveled throughout the U.S. conducting interviews, researching and collecting dubs of the original broadcasts from the National Archives in Washington D.C. Many of the original recordings were restored with a digital noise-reduction system. Berlin Calling was mixed with technical assistance from Rob Hilton on Sonic Solutions Digital Editing System. It was broadcast by WUGA and dozens of other stations nation-wide in connection with the 50th anniversary of D-Day."--1994 Peabody Awards entry form.
