THUMBS ACROSS AMERICA takes us back to the days when an open road and a working thumb were the adventurers preferred method of travel. Only by casting your fate to the winds would you meet the interesting people who are a part of this country. "Andrew P. Jones broke tradition by turning down the use of a camera crew for his cross-country expedition. Starting out in Boston with an 8mm [video camera], eight days and 20 rides later, Andrew reached his destination - San Francisco! "From pick-up trucks to 18-wheelers and sundry other forms of transportation, Jones documents the lost art of hitchhiking. His off the cuff interviews capture the heart of America. His hosts of teenagers, mothers and truck drivers revealed the beauty of the land as well as personal philosophies.
